Resident Evil Village is a survival horror game. It was developed and published by Capcom. The game was released for Playstation 4, PS5, Stadia, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on May 7, 2021. It was released for MacOS and Nintendo Switch on October 28, 2022. A VR version of the game was released for Playstation VR2 on February 22, 2023. Finally iOS and iPadOS got the game on October 30, 2023.
Resident Evil Village Story
After settling into a quiet life in Eastern Europe with his wife Mia and their infant daughter Rosemary, Ethan Winters is thrown into chaos when Chris Redfield suddenly storms their home, kills Mia, and takes Ethan and Rose into custody. When Ethan wakes up, he is alone and in the middle of a crash.

The Four Lords of the Village
Searching for his daughter, Ethan arrives at a remote village terrorized by werewolf type creatures called Lycans and ruled by Mother Miranda and her four lords: Lady Dimitrescu, Donna Beneviento, Salvatore Moreau, and Karl Heisenberg. Each lord holds a piece of Rose, whose body has been separated into flasks for Miranda’s ritual.

Ethan fights through each domain to reclaim the flasks, uncovering Miranda’s plan to use Rose as a vessel to resurrect her own deceased child through the Megamycete, the same bioweapon responsible for the events of Resident Evil 7.
Chris eventually reveals that the Mia he killed was actually Miranda in disguise, and the real Mia is still alive. Ethan confronts Miranda, ultimately sacrificing himself to destroy the Megamycete and save Rose. Chris escapes with Rose and Mia as the village is destroyed.

The Winters’ Expansion continues the story of Ethan and Rosemary Winters following the events of Resident Evil Village. Sixteen years after Ethan’s sacrifice, Rose struggles with the powers she inherited from the Megamycete. Haunted by visions and unable to live a normal life, Rose seeks a way to remove her abilities once and for all.
Her search leads her into the consciousness of the Megamycete itself, a twisted dream world built from memories, fears, and distorted echoes of the past. Inside this shifting realm, Rose encounters a mysterious figure who guides her through nightmarish recreations of Castle Dimitrescu, the village, and other locations tied to her father’s final moments.

As Rose fights through the manifestations of the Megamycete, she uncovers the truth about Ethan’s final battle with Mother Miranda and the depth of his sacrifice. The journey forces her to confront her identity, her connection to the bioweapon fungus, and the emotional legacy her father left behind. Eventually Rose gains full control over her powers and accepts who she is.

What happened to Ethan Winters?
Ethan died at the beginning of Resident Evil 7 when he was attacked by Jack Baker. He was resurrected by the Mold without his knowledge. Over the next few years he went through life with the Mold regenerating and keeping him alive. His final death was when he sacrificed himself setting off a bomb at the Megamycete Ceremony to save his family.
