Resident Evil: Code Veronica X is a survival horror game developed by Capcom Production Studio 4 and published by Capcom. It was released on February 3, 2000 for the Sega Dreamcast. With Sega exiting the console market, the game was re-released as Resident Evil: Code Veronica X for Playstation 2 on August 21, 2001 and on GameCube December 3, 2003. An HD Remaster was released on September 27, 2011 for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Code Veronica was supposed to be Resident Evil 3 and what was released as Resident Evil 3 was supposed to be a side story.

Claire Redfield is captured and imprisoned on Rockfort Island after breaking into an Umbrella facility looking for her brother, Chris. After a T-virus outbreak on the island, one of the prison guards releases Claire and through her fight through the infected, she meets and teams up with Steve Burnside, who also was imprisoned on the island.
With Claire and Steve looking for a way off the island, the island’s governor, Alfred Ashford begins hunting them down. He believes that Claire is a spy, but they believed Alfred is two different people as he is switching personalities between his and his twin sister’s Alexia. The two find a seaplane and can finally escape. They head toward an Umbrella facility in Antarctica, only to find that it too has an outbreak. After a final battle with Alfred, he frees his sister from her cryogenic sleep before dying. With Alexia awake now, she manages to recapture Claire and Steve.

After receiving a message from Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield goes to Rockfort Island looking for his sister. After discovering that she left, he begins to search for clues as to where she went. While looking, he meets his old boss turned foe, Albert Wesker, who is looking for a T-Veronica virus sample. Wesker discovers that Alexia has what he needs and Chris discovers Claire is in Antarctica. The two, unbeknownst to the other, head there. Chris frees Claire who then goes searching for Steve, only to discover that he’s been infecting and tries to kill her. Steve is able to fight to regain control, only to be killed by Alexia. Before dying, he declares his love for Claire. Chris goes after Alexia, while Wesker escapes with Steve’s body. Chris and Claire manage to escape the facility before it self-destructs.
