It’s a prequel to the first game in the series, but came out after Resident Evil: Code Veronica.
Resident Evil Zero looks the same, but different.
S.T.A.R.S Bravo Team is sent to investigate reportings of strange cannibalistic behavior, but its helicopter engines fail. Rebecca who is separated from her team, comes across a train and investigates it, thinking it may have stopped due to the strange behavior that’s been reported. On it she meets Billy, a marine who’s been sentenced to execution for killing 23 people. As the train begins moving, the pair realizes that they need to team up in order to figure out what’s going on.
Hey Rebecca, Billy, what's that?
Fighting their way together while solving puzzles along the way, the pair finally meets up with someone they never expected, someone who was executed by Umbrella 10 years earlier, only inside he was a creature known as Queen Leech. Queen Leech gained all of Marcus’ memories and how Oswell E. Spencer had him killed, so for revenge he released the T-Virus, which lead to the cannibal behavior that S.T.A.R.S was sent to investigate.
