It’s no secret that I want to go back to school. I’ve often asked myself why I am not in school currently, I mean I work for myself and I could maintain fulltime status with school and do work on my off time, plus getting a degree and taking classes in business and marketing would help me with what I do now, so why not right? My best answer for the question is money. I was $5500 in debt not too long ago. That’s just with credit cards and my credit is really bad because I’ve had them for so long and have missed a few payments. I figure once I lower the balance on the cards, along with the monthly payments then I should be able to take out a student loan and any other loan I would need to go back to school.
Right now I am down to under $5000 in debt, but it will be back to being a little over $5000 with the interest payment this month. I know it isn’t a big difference, but $500 is a huge dent for me, considering some of these cards I have had since I was 18 years old. I am hoping to be down to $4500 by the end of this year, in fact if I can keep up working with the pace I am, not only will I be able to pay back an extra $500 to these cards, but possibly be more than half paying off the bed and getting Kristen’s cards paid off. The more that we can pay off together the more money we can have in the long run for vacations, and other fun things.
I am hoping though that come January Kristen will have her own car, mine will be in good enough shape for me to go back to school, and the bills minimum payments will be a lot lower than they are right now. Hopefully it all works out the way I want it to.
We’re in the same boat. Our own business and credit card debt. It sucks. Big time.
Hope that you cleared your debt soon~
I am absolutely terrified of when I’ll have to inevitably take out student loans (lucky now grants have covered my BA degree… but I have graduate school aspirations!)
I think that $500 is a big difference. It starts with a single dollar. 🙂
Wow. So many debts. And I thought mine was big. ._.
Hope you get to pay them all off. 🙂
Yikes, that doesn’t sound too good! I myself used to have a credit card, but when I was fired from my last job I wasn’t able to pay anymore of the bills from it, obviously … thankfully, though, my Dad paid it off for me.
However, since I still haven’t had a job since I last got fired, I still have to pay him back, which is always a worry for me. Thankfully, though, it’s not as high as your bills. x.x; Mine’s under a thousand dollars.
Still, though, I wish I was able to have paid it off a long time ago, bleh.
I hope you manage to get yours paid off quicker than you think!
That is awesome your goal is to whittle that debt down. I’ve heard of young people $100,000 owing — so yours is not too bad. Just keep at it!!
We’ve got our share of debt too, trying to pay it off and not incur any new stuff.
Have you done any consolidating?
I used to listen to Suze Orman, she makes such great sense.
xo
Best of luck paying off the debt. I want to go back to uni too, but I have no money either!
Awwhh, I hope everything works out for you. I’m not that much in debt with credit cards, but I know the feeling. I’m in school now and having trouble paying off my credit cards. Good luck to you!
Good luck with the money situation! Loans suck big time. I have to pay back $10,000! And let me tell you, I know how slow of a process that is. It just feels like you are getting no where even though you are paying so much into it.
good luck paying off the debt.
I hate how the only thing that makes me miss something is money.
maybe you should start saving some money, at least a tiny ammount each month? at least you would have something to start with and not totally rely on student loan
I hope that you’ll be able to clear off your debt soon. Good luck with trying to get into school:) Hope things work out for you!
My boyfriend and I are raising five kids. I stay at home right now to avoid daycare cost and a drop in state health care assistance for the kids. This is temporary. I chose to do this to help get my boyfriend out of debt that his Ex wife and his cousin put him in. His Ex ran off with his cousin after he moved him in with him, got him a great job and helped him on his feet. It was beyond wrong of both his Ex and cousin to do him like that, and I’m helping fix the damage they caused. The one thing that gets us through the hard times is this quote: “This too shall pass, often like a giant kidney stone, but it will pass”. These things take a long time, but in the end its worth the struggle. You’ll get there.
Paying off debt is so hard, especially once the bills start to pile up. I usually try to put away a small amount of money, even if it’s only 20.00 to set aside for bills and payments. Every little bit helps.
I hope that you start getting everything paid off and congratulations on chipping away at your payments!
hope you achieve your aspirations as soon as possible!
