The Last Of Us Part 2

The Last of Us Part 2 is an action adventure video game. The game was developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It was initially released on June 19, 2020 for the Playstation 4. It was then updated and released on January 19, 2024 for the PS5. The game was released for Windows on April 3, 2025.

The game begins in Jackson, Wyoming, where Joel and Ellie have integrated into a community, which includes Joel’s brother Tommy and Ellie’s girlfriend Dina. The Cordyceps brain infection remains a persistent threat, but the town maintains relative stability through patrols and resource management. Ellie and Joel’s relationship is strained due to Ellie’s discovery of Joel’s actions at the Firefly hospital, where he prevented doctors from using her immunity to develop a cure, killing several people in the process – including a surgeon.

Joel is killed by Abby, a soldier affiliated with the Washington Liberation Front (WLF), a militant faction based in Seattle. Abby is revealed to be the daughter of the surgeon Joel killed, and her actions are motivated by revenge. With Joel dead, Ellie vows to locate and eliminate Abby and her associates.

Ellie travels to Seattle with a pregnant Dina. During their time in the city, Ellie encounters various WLF members and navigates hostile territory controlled by the Seraphites, a religious cult with strict doctrines and violent enforcement. The Seraphites are engaged in an ongoing conflict with the WLF, contributing to widespread instability throughout the region. Eventually Ellie and Abby come face to face with each other in a theater.

Halfway through the game, you switch characters and start playing as Abby. Her storyline runs parallel to Ellie’s, you go through the same days as you did with Ellie and it provides context for her motivations and affiliations. Abby’s interactions with characters such as Lev and Yara, Seraphite defectors, highlight internal divisions within the cult and the broader consequences of factional warfare. Abby’s missions involve navigating Seraphite-controlled zones, rescuing allies, and confronting WLF leadership.

Eventually you get back to the theater and finish the fight with Ellie. Abby gets the upper hand and just as she is about to kill Dina, Lev calls out to her, making her change her mind. She warns Ellie not to cross paths with her again.

Months later, Tommy comes to Ellie and Dina’s home to tell them about rumors he heard regarding Abby and where she is now. Dina doesn’t want Ellie to go off for revenge again, but Ellie tells her this is something she has to do, for Joel.

Ellie eventually tracks Abby to a slave camp operated by a group known as the Rattlers. After freeing Abby and her companion Lev, Ellie initiates a final confrontation. Despite gaining the upper hand, Ellie ultimately spares Abby and allows her to escape. Ellie returns to the farmhouse she once shared with Dina, only to find it abandoned. She has lost two fingers during the final fight, rendering her unable to play the guitar that Joel gave her.

The story ends with Ellie leaving the farmhouse, her destination and intentions unknown.
