Layers of Fear is a psychological horror video game developed by Bloober Team and published by Aspyr and released on February 16 2016 for Linux, Windows, macOS, PlayStation 4, Xbox One. It was then released on February 21, 2018 for Nintendo Switch.

You play as a painter with schizophrenia who neglected and abused his family to the point that his wife left with their daughter. He tried relentlessly to get her back, but only after a fire left her disfigured with the inability to walk for some time. They came back to him, but his abuse and neglect continued. Eventually the daughter leaves and the mother kills herself in the bathroom.
I played the DLC for Layers of Fear on my second night playing it.
In the DLC Inheritance you play as the painter’s daughter. Depending on the choices you make, you can either continue to see the father as a caring man who didn’t know how to show it or as a cruel drunk who only wanted a protege. When I played, I got the cruel drunk ending, but even if I hadn’t, I would have never believed he cared for his family after the events of the main game.
