Layers of Fear 2 is a first-person, psychological thriller, horror video game made by Bloober Team and published by Gun Media. It was released on May 28, 2019 for Windows, Xbox One, and Playstation 4. It was then released for Nintendo Switch on May 20, 2021. It’s a sequel to Layers of Fear, although the stories are not connected.
You play as an unnamed actor. The game starts on a sinking ship with the actor running to a stage. Through the dialogue and notes you discover that the actor had been on a ship as a child with their sibling. Their names were Lily and James. They snuck aboard the ship to escape from their abusive father. The pair survived while avoiding the guards and getting food however they could. The ship eventually caught fire and began to sink. James and Lily tried to escape, but only one survived.
Throughout the game the director gives you directions, you can choose to obey the director or do the complete opposite of what he says. Based on your choices, your identity can be revealed as Lily, James, or the Rat Queen, a creature you encounter early in the game and can be seen as a painting in the first game.
