The 21st Century Family

Politicians are saying that the American family is failing, but what they don’t realize is that while the family structure may be changing, it is definitely not failing. It is true that the divorce rate is high in America, but that doesn’t mean that families are failing, just that marriages are.

In the twenty first century families are more than just people you are related to by blood, they are people you are related to by circumstances, experiences, and just plain choice. Friends are closer than ever, having ways to constantly stay in touch through the use of technology. Ten years ago you’d never find people on the internet who were away who were your extended family, but the times have changed, and whether you speak to them on the phone, the internet, face to face, no matter what you might someday consider them family.

While the government may be saying that the American family is failing, who are they to generalize us? The family structure is different now, but it is a lot stronger than it was in the 1990’s.

Zenni Optical

I need new eyeglasses. Mine are all scratched and that scratch resistant coating that is on there is coming off. I should have probably gotten new glasses a while ago, back when I actually had insurance, but I would still need to pay out of pocket for the frames and the lenses. I wish I had known about ZenniOptical back then. I would be able to get a new pair of glasses and frames for around eight dollars.

Since I no longer have insurance I have to not only pay for the glasses, but also for the doctor’s appointment. I know Walmart has an obstetrician on the premises in some stores, but I haven’t been able to find one in New York yet, when I do though I am going to get a new prescription and then go through ZenniOptical to fill it. My last plan about finding out the prescription from the doctor who last prescribed my glasses fell through, since they don’t give that information out over the phone, but they can’t deny me the prescription if I have an appointment with the doctor. I would even buy backup pairs since they aren’t as expensive as going through a retail store.

Candy Corn

Candy corn never tastes better than it does in October. In November they have that brown candy corn, and in December you may be lucky enough to find the red and green stuff, but it just doesn’t taste the same as it does right around Halloween. I guess maybe it is the familiar colors and the taste of the season. Anyone else know what I am talking about?

Krissy wants to Decorate

Krissy has been going crazy looking at Bedroom Decor. I can understand she wants it to look nice and for us to be comfortable and all that, but with the limited space we can only do so much. I have been helping her out coming up with Bedroom Ideas that can also double as storage solutions and would look all right in the space we have. I know she has a lot of Bedroom Decorative Ideas, but we can’t do unless we had a bigger bedroom that didn’t double as an office, but they are going to wait a few months until we have our own larger space.

Pointy Presents

I decided to take a note from so many other bloggers out there and put images that I uploaded a few days ago to my photo gallery inside my blog, to get more exposure. I hope you like them, it is what I received for my birthday from Krissy last week. I am a huge knife and sword fan, so she made my collection grow with these awesome Spiderman daggers and spider pocket knife.

New Frame

We are thinking about investing in some new Bedroom Furniture. The bed we have is great and all, but a new frame with some storage under it, or maybe even just a frame that isn’t a low profile one. Either way no matter what we do we need to make sure that we have enough room in the Bedroom so everything fits. Even having enough room underneith for under the bed boxes would be all right, I just don’t like the idea of Bella being under a king size frame, which is where she normally sleeps.

When we finally have our own place, we hope to find one with Bedroom Suites so we can have an attached bathroom and hopefully it will be large enough where we can fit other furniture besides just a bed.

Label Makers

We’ve been going through everything and putting old notebooks, old poems, old photographs stuff like that away. The problem is that all these boxes look alike. I don’t like the idea of writing on the box because if you change what is in it then it is harder to relabel the box without getting confused. I think I might go out and pick up a DYMO Labelmaker to make it easier.

I know labeling will be more and more important when we get the rest of our stuff up here and more things are in boxes and storage, so a label maker would make that a lot easier. I used to have one, I just don’t know what happened to it. I remember using it the first time I moved, but I guess it was lost somewhere in that move. It helped out a lot back then, I think one that I don’t loose could help out a lot more this time around.

After we have everything sorted out, then I think a label maker might come in handy for folders and notebooks. I have a lot due to work and I know Krissy has a lot, so having them labeled on the biner would make finding them a lot easier.

Bar Stools Make the Bar

I think if a bar really wants to stand out from the crowd then it needs to really put its best foot forward. Now I don’t mean just by using the best vodka, or the freshest limes, I am talking about having everything top notch, including the decorating. Many people do not want to be drinking in a dive bar, so I think the first thing that any bar would need to loose that reputation would be to upgrade the Bar Stool.

You really can’t update the bar, its a piece of wood that you serve drinks on. Other than a nice polish, or some new paint, there really isn’t much you can do. Bar stools are much more versatile though. Some of the classiest bars I have been to got rid of the ordinary backless stools and replaced them with newer Contemporary Barstools. Sometimes a bar is more than just a bar though, so it has other places to sit than just right at the bar, that Seating is just as important as the ones nearest to the bar, so changing them with a matching style is also important if you want your bar to have a new style.

I am 24

I am now 24. No different from being 23, except that my age can now be divided by 12. I will have pictures of what I got up soon, I haven’t had time to hop on the laptop to upload them, I have been extremely busy with work the last couple of days. On Saturday we went to our friend Lu’s and drank for a while. Some other people showed up as time went on. It wasn’t bad at all. Krissy got me a bunch of cool stuff, that I think can only fully be appreciated with pictures. Maybe tomorrow or the next day.

Custom Suit

I don’t know about you, but I have always felt that getting measured for a suit is awkward and when I finally do get the suit it never really fits the way I think it is supposed to. I mean where they measure seems to be kind of weird, afterall I am wider in some places than others, and having only three places measured just seems out of place. I think the next time I go and buy a suit, I might try this website called MySuitNy. They do thirty measurements as opposed to three, which is guaranteed to fit better than any standard suit. I like the idea of a Made to Measure custom suit.

With a two week turn around time, I think that it would be well worth the price. I think every man should have a custom suit at some point in their lives, so I am going to be recommending them to all my friends. I think I am going to get a suit within the next year, so they will be my first stop when I start shopping for one, but I think they will be my only stop considering it will be completely custom. When I go there I will tell you about my experience with them.

Gonna Get Shit Faced

Apparently tomorrow there’s four cases of beer for six people, all in celebration of my birthday. Needless to say, it’s my birthday and I’m going to be shitfaced. I wrote on my myjokecafe that I have a mean Irish punch. I say that, but the truth is my Irish punch is sheathed when I drink, I am a big pussy cat when I am drinking. In fact the last time I was drunk I got very emotional apparently. I don’t really remember much from it, but apparently I revealed things to Krissy that I don’t remember much. I don’t want to get that drunk this time, maybe just enough to be tipsy.

Photo Christmas Cards

I love Vista Print. They have a ton of free offers going on all the time, and they have on going discounts that can save you even more money. For instance if you use the discount code TShirts25 then you can get 25% Off T-shirts. I would love to have a t-shirt that had LepsLair printed on the front of it. Think about it, I could go to the mall, or a store, wherever and advertise my website just by walking around. I don’t actually know if it would work, but it would be worth a shot.

I know I would use Vista Print for Christmas Cards. I am not talking about everyday run of the mill Christmas cards, I am talking about custom photo christmas cards. See I think the photo cards are a great way to keep people updated on what your family looks like, how it has grown, and what has changed with you in the past year. Maybe even do more than the typical picture with name of who it is too, maybe have it as a real card where you can write what has been up recently, especially for the people you haven’t seen in a while. I don’t know, maybe it is corny, but I know I like the idea.
