Christmas Cards

Christmas Cards annoy me. You have the blank ones that allow people to write their own message in them, but in actuality someone either just writes Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, or one of the many other various forms of those two phrases, or they use the blank card as an excuse to write a whole well thought out letter. The problem with the latter is that many people put Christmas cards on display which people tend to open if they see them on display, which means that in turn your personal letter is on display.

There are also the kinds of cards which the Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas greeting is already in there and then the person writes little else since everything is summed up in those few words. Personally I hate either one, mainly because even if you still write a letter, a card with a predefined image on it seems impersonal. I would want to send out cards that either I designed, I hand made, or had something to do with me and my loved ones, something like a picture as the card, or maybe one I photoshopped, either way I’d want it to be personal. I’d also customize the Merry Christmas with their names and maybe a short message, that even if it was generic and mass produced, it could still be seen as somewhat personal.

Ritalin?

Do I need to be put on Ritalin again? I find myself sitting here for hours not doing much work. It could be lack of inspiration, lack of drive to work, or it could be that I am overly distracted with not so distracting things. I used to be on Ritalin for it and I am thinking that I might need to go back on it, or maybe I should be back on the Gotu Kola that I was taking for a while, or maybe find another alternate medication like Ginko Biloba.

Cell Phones

I have been trying to figure out how to afford Verizon cell phones and a cellphone plan. I even tried paying for part of the first bill with a gift card, but that only messed things up, so I couldn’t do it. I know Krissy wants Verizon for the unlimited In-network calling and text messaging, which is fine, but I just need to figure out how to afford the phone that she wants.

Years ago I had a Cingular plan, a few months before they had merged with AT&T. That was all right, but I think now that I am working I need something that I can check email with and check the news, that kind of thing. I like at&t cell phones, especially the iphone, but I really can’t afford that right now.

I am really just looking for the best cellphone that I can get at a great price, I was even thinking about going with Tmobile for their Sidekicks, but after looking at the Tmobile phones, I didn’t really see any that I’d want that I could afford.

I haven’t looked into Sprint though, mainly because I had forgotten all about them until now. I remember they used to do housephones, but those commercials with Candace Bergan just stopped running, so I thought they went out of business. I guess I should look into Sprint phones, though. Who knows maybe I will find a good Sprint cell phone sale that I could buy a phone at a good price.

Happy 24th Birthday Krissy

Today is Krissy’s 24th birthday. Head on over to her site and wish her a happy birthday. I am taking her and a whole bunch of other people out to dinner on Friday night to Friendly’s and then on Saturday I think I am getting her some stuff at Payless, since I have no idea what she would like, and neither does she. I would have liked to have our stuff up here by then, but that didn’t happen, obviously.

Wanted: Inspiration

As I sit here, I realize that I have nothing to do and I realize that there are lots of nights when I have nothing to do and yet I don’t actually work on my site, and I don’t actually blog, I just kind of sit here with the book of ideas next to me and not implement any of them. I am not sure what it is, but I think it is the lack of video games since video games inspire me in a way that I can’t describe. So many nights I could have worked on the Spiderman section or gotten pictures together for the fanlistings, or started the new one that I wanted to do, but I realize that it isn’t time, it is inspiration that I am lacking.

My mother got me a gift card for my birthday last month and I used it to buy Red vs Blue: Bonus Content DVD and make your own box set, along with volumes 1 and 3 of Cad-comic’s softcover books. I am hoping that when the books come they will inspire me to do something that differs from work. Maybe I should just go on Saturday to Delaware and pack up the car and come back Sunday, but I don’t know yet.

Where the Hell Have I Been?

Has it really been over a week since my last entry? Money seems to be evening itself out, though I still need to be making more of it. Right now all my time seems to be going to work and I need to split it up better between things I’d rather be doing and work. Of course I think this will be a lot easier once we have our stuff up here and I can play video games. We decided to buy a bed instead of shipping the one we have so we can go to Delaware anytime and start loading our stuff in the car. I think we’ll be making a trip sometime next week.

I Need Money

I need more money, I spent money on my brakes, an oil change, and food for the person who did the brakes and the oil change. I am tired and I need more money. Anyone want to give me some, no questions asked, where I do not need to do anything to earn it? Hey it was worth a shot right?

I want My Stuff

I have been trying to figure out the bus schedule so that I can take it to go to Delaware pack for a few days and then come back with a truck. Unfortunately they don’t have the fares online so I need to call them I guess. I just hope that I don’t need to transfer buses on the way down, with my luck I will be stuck in Wilmington Delaware, or New Jersey somewhere.

Bar Stool Shopping

We are heading out to check out bar stools with Lucy. She just got one of those traveling wet bars, I think they are called, and she wants a nice set of stools to go with it. I think she said that there are different styles that go by different names, like ones that don’t look like they belong at a bar are Counter Stools, while ones that could either be in a bar or at a counter are referred to as Kitchen Bar Stools. I don’t know, I don’t really know the difference, nor do I really care much. I mean if I had a bar I would just get the classic Wood Bar Stools, that are three legged and backless, that is what I think when I think of a bar stool.

Balancing the Budget

I think money is on everyone’s minds these days. Krissy and I sat down this morning and discussed everything and we agreed that we need to set a budget and stick with it. The way I worked it out, we would be able to afford cell phones, car insurance, and still have over 800 dollars left over to accrue interest in the savings account. Not everything that looks good on paper is going to work in real life, take Communism for instance, but I think that it is a good start to solving our money issues.

Aunt’s Buying Children’s Furniture

My aunt moved her father into her house, and in doing so moved one of her sons to the den. Now she has decided tat the den should be her son’s official new room, so she has been going all over looking for Kids Bedroom Furniture. Last time I talked to her, I think she had found a bed, but I think she is still looking for Childrens Desks and a
Childrens Chair. I know he’s just content sitting on the floor when playing video games, so I don’t know why either of those are important, but to her they are. I guess for homework, but every time I saw him doing homework he was sitting at the kitchen table, so I don’t think that is it. It might just be a decorating thing.

The 21st Century Family

Politicians are saying that the American family is failing, but what they don’t realize is that while the family structure may be changing, it is definitely not failing. It is true that the divorce rate is high in America, but that doesn’t mean that families are failing, just that marriages are.

In the twenty first century families are more than just people you are related to by blood, they are people you are related to by circumstances, experiences, and just plain choice. Friends are closer than ever, having ways to constantly stay in touch through the use of technology. Ten years ago you’d never find people on the internet who were away who were your extended family, but the times have changed, and whether you speak to them on the phone, the internet, face to face, no matter what you might someday consider them family.

While the government may be saying that the American family is failing, who are they to generalize us? The family structure is different now, but it is a lot stronger than it was in the 1990’s.
