Phone Abuse

Krissy has been receiving a lot of numbers from Arizone on her cell phone. She got like 40 of them in an hour on Friday and they don’t speak english and then they sent her a text message. She tried calling the police, but they were no help at all. When I told her to Report Phone Numbers, she jumped right on it, and also added some numbers that had been calling the house too.

I honestly can deal with prank calls, in fact if they are funny or just a kid having fun then I don’t care. When it is someone who keeps calling and obviously over the age of 18 then it becomes a problem and should be reported. Prank calls should be a part of any tween/teenager’s life, but annoying calls from people who should know better shouldn’t be tolerated at all.

Thanksgiving Shopping is Done

Krissy just got back from the supermarket with a whole bunch of food for Thanksgiving. I think after BJs and the supermarket, I can safely say that Thanksgiving shopping is done. At least we aren’t waiting for the last minute like last year. Oh well, at least we will be eating very well for a couple of days.

Web of Shadows

I love Spiderman Web of Shadows. I loved all the Spiderman movie games, even number 3 with its lackluster controls, but Web of Shadows builds on what the previous games had and takes it to a whole nother level. See you can fight in the air on land and on the walls. You really do fight the way that Spiderman would.

Aside from the controls, the game’s story is all right too. It isn’t based on a movie so they are free to include other characters from the Marvel universe. You see Black Cat, Wolverine, Nick Fury, show up along with mentions of Reed Richards, and Tony Stark. I think that if the Avengers movie takes a note from the game it will be a good thing, though I don’t think I have to worry about that movie at all, considering the top notch cast and directors that will be involved.

Windows Errors

I love Windows don’t you? I mean the program can barely stay open long enough before you get one of those cryptic little error popup windows that makes no sense to you and even though you forward the error to Microsoft, you know that no one will ever read it and it won’t happen again until the exact condition is met that made it pop up the first time. Well now there is hope. If you get say error code 50, you can now look it up and find out why you are getting that error code and possibly do something about it.

I for one plan on using this a lot, especially with those hexadecimal ones, just because of how big a pain they are to me. I wish they would just tell you in plain english what had happened and why something went nuts, but they don’t. They want you to feel like an idiot with those 0x000544JB errors that pop up all the time. I have taken Windows courses and even taken an Assembly language course that dealt with registers and even that gave more specific errors than Windows does at times. I think Windows errors can be put into one of two piles, ones that crash the program, and ones that crash the entire system. Neither one is good, and each one is just as confusing as the other.

Gotta Stay Clean

I took a decongestant around 3:30 today and I am out of it still. Shortly after I took it I knocked out for a few hours, but I have been out of it ever since. I have tried to do some work, but my mind isn’t even really out there, it just appears to be gone. I hope I can start to feel better tomorrow though, otherwise I don’t know if I can stay off the Afrin.

I’ve Fallen Behind

I was doing so good the last few months paying back the credit cards each month, making sure we had enough money each week, but now since I got a new card, and I used it to go to Delaware to get our stuff, things went haywire and I have been using it to buy things that I normally would use cash for. Of couse some things are one time purchases, like paying to have the car switched over in my name, and getting a New York driver’s license.

Hopefully once the holidays are over I can get the payments back on track without having to use Debt Counseling though maybe they wouldn’t be such a bad idea, if this is the way I am going to behave once I get a little bit ahead. I doubt it, since this won’t be an every year occurance.

No More Afrin

Jack sent me nose spray that he makes to clear my nostrils since I have been on Afrin for over two years and it’s killing my nose. It isn’t working that great, mainly because I have been on Afrin for so long that after a few minutes my nose gets just as clogged as before I used it. I am hoping that after a few days things will start to even out and I can begin to breath again and not have to worry about killing my membranes in my nose anymore.

Coupons Make it Easier

Right now the economy is in bad shape. I technically work for myself, and even though money is and always has been tight, the price of food going up, along with the holidays coming up is really making me try and stretch my budget. I have been trying to find as many coupons for things gifts, and things I need, even groceries. My DVD burner recently died, it no longer read DVDs, but it would burn them just fine, so I needed to go buy a new one. I would have ordered from Newegg, or something like that, but with a Microcenter right around the corner from where I was, I decided to go there and pick one up.

As I walk in the door they had a massive amounts of coupons, ones for burners, computers, mother boards, even stuff for software like Windows, Office, they even had Quicken coupons. It was a pleasant surprise, let me tell you, because with the money I saved on my burner, I was able to get some dinner and even some stuff for Thanksgiving next week.

When I was working in a grocery store I hated the coupons, Manufacturer, Store, and then you had to keep and separate them, it was a big pain to deal with. Then people complaining because they gave you an expired coupon, just made the whole thing ten times worse, sometimes I wanted to hit them and say something like “It’s only 30 cents”, but now that I am out of that mindset and actually using them, I see that 30 cents here and a dollar there is another item that can go in the cart that won’t be put off another week.

I need to Time Budget

The blogs are buzzing about the NXE (New Xbox Experience) that came out a few days ago. Mainly they focus on the Avatar and the installable games. I have created an avatar, but I never plan on installing games, simply because my harddrive is too small. If I ever upgraded to the 100 or 60 gig drives I might, but until then there’s no way.

I plan on getting my stats up soon, along with my Xbox avatar and my Mii, I just need to figure out how to budget my time better. I think I am horrible at it at the moment, though I do think I have been getting better somewhat. Live and learn I suppose.

Webhosting

It seems that the webhosting world has gotten bigger the last few months. I have seen a rise in people ditching resellers for their own servers with dedicated server masters, this is good for the companies that have that many customers, but when you are in the market to find a hosting company, how do you know which ones are good, and which ones will take your money and give you crappy service in return?

Now you don’t need to worry about that stuff, since there is a place that you can check how a hosting company stands up against other companies. With webhostinggeeks you can check out reviews of companies, see who got the most awards for their hosting, and you can see who customers think are the top 10 hosts. You can even break it down by non-adult and adult webhosting, in case you want to take your site and make it risque or more.

I got my host before this site existed, and honestly I would have probably moved ten times over if it wasn’t such a pain to change the stuff that I have calling absolute paths, but I know that if and when I do have to change hosts, I am going to be checking their reviews out first.

28 Dollars

I plan on applying for Medicaid as soon as I have my license and car switched over to New York. I know in Delaware that I have optical coverage with Medicaid, so I am hoping that it is the same in New York. Whether I have it or not, I am going to need glasses, so I am planning on going with ZenniOptical instead of a store to get them. They have eyeglasses starting from just $8.00. That is frames and lenses for just eight bucks, that is a really good deal.

I put an image of the glasses that I want below. I really like the sophistication of the black frame, I just need to get the prescription for them. I looked at the others, especially the plastic ones, but I have always had much better luck with metal ones, and besides that, I just think they look better in general. I do know that when I have the money I might pick up more than one pair, just so I have a spare when the main pair get scratched or damaged or something like that. I might go next weekend to the optomitrist, I found a coupon for a $20 eye exam, and I think $28 for an exam and glasses is a fine price.

My Car Costs Money

Lucy and her dad did the brakes on my car a few weeks ago. I don’t get to drive my car much since Krissy takes it to work everyday, but when I do drive it, I must say that it is a lot better than it has been the last few months. I’ve put a lot of money into my car and I don’t know much about them, so when I have a chance to learn about them by either doing something myself or reading up on it online, I try and understand it as best as I can, so maybe next time I can fix something myself, or at least have a better understanding of what is wrong.

I’ve spent a lot of money on my car, it isn’t really like the car is dying, but it has been getting expensive. First I needed an Air conditioning compressor. I know that doesn’t sound bad, but when you are driving around in 90 degree weather in a resort town and traffic isn’t moving, you get to the point where you want to sell your soul for some relief. The A/C I could have lived without, and I did for a while, but then it started affecting other parts of the car, so I had to get it fixed.

About six months ago I needed tires and an oil change, which afterwards they told me my serpentine belt and waterpump needed to be replaced. I waited until we came up to New York and they both died on me to get them replaced for $500 less than I was quotes in Delaware. Then about a week after they got fixed I needed a radiator. After that I needed a brake job and another oil change. It is mainly maintenance work, so I am hoping that I won’t need all this done in a short amount of time again for a long time.
