Guns

I would like to eventually have an arsenal of replica airguns and rifles from movies and games that I enjoy. To go with these pieces of art, as I see them, it would be great to have rifle slings, in case I take it to a range and fire off a few rounds. Those are the same slings that police officers use, so I know that they are safe and probably won’t break when I am hauling my gun to the range.

Red Vs Blue: Reconstruction

Roosterteeth released the pilot episode of their newest series, Red Vs Blue: Reconstruction. It looks like it will be a continuation of Blood Gulch Chronicles while bringing in the characters from Recovery One. In the first episode they basically said they will be heading to Blood Gulch, but how long those characters will be seen is unknown. I would love it if Donut and Caboose were the scene stealers again, but so far it looks to have a serious tone, so I guess I will need to wait until episode 2 to really tell you more about the underlying tone of the new series.

Living Room Furniture

I think we need some new Living Room Furniture. Don’t get me wrong, it was all nice back when it was new, but the years have been rough on the furniture. The glass table has a huge chunk missing, the springs in the couch are poking through and the chaise lounge is just about to break when you sit in it. Even if the furniture wasn’t that bad, having the same furniture for too long can be boring. Seeing the same same things in the same place for years can make someone go nuts. Even moving the furniture around doesn’t make much of a difference because you are still looking at the same furniture, and eventually you just need something new.

Living Room Furniture isn’t all that important if you look at it from a wider perspective, but people change, and if you aren’t the same person from when you bought the furniture, or even just have different taste now, then maybe it is time to upgrade.

Unix

I have been spending a lot of time on a server playing around with Unix. I began taking a course a few years ago in Unix, but I couldn’t complete it since I moved down here. Everything I learned in the first few weeks are really what I need to know, and I still have the book so anything I don’t know I can easily look up.

Knowing Unix also helps with the Mac because it is built on a Unix system. When it was messed up I was throwing Unix commands at it, not DOS. If only I could afford another Mac then I could get rid of Windows all together.

Vista Print Post Its

Krissy got a VistaPrint magazine today and I was flipping through it I came across personalized sticky notes. If you are working in an office with multiple people I suppose it is good, but for yourself leaving notes around, I have no idea why you would need sticky notes with your business on them. I love the idea of personalized stationary, but I don’t really see post it notes as something you give out to people, unless your giving out a bunch of them for people to use.

I would still buy pens and business cards from them, maybe even a tshirt. Anything that would get my business out there would be a good expense. They have so many ideas of what you could put your logo on, I would never have thought that so many things could be used to advertise your business. I mean I use folders for my programming jobs, but I never thought to have custom ones that I could hand out to clients. If your sending out invoices then send them in a custom envelope. The possibilities on what you can put your logo on are endless, and with VistaPrint they will help you every step of the way.

It Will be Sent

No surprise that when I called up the XBox support center they told me that they will send a box for it. I just need for the box to show up. The call went as expected, talked to an Indian guy whose name was Ben and had me troubleshoot the 360 and then told me that there was nothing he could do over the phone and he would send a box for it to be shipped to them in.

What surprised me was the automated message system that they had set up. The first thing that I heard was “Thank you for calling the Xbox support center. My name is Mac and I will be assisting you today.” Now this is a recording to help get you to the right person for your call, but in my head all I was thinking was “My name is PC and Vista is giving me problems.” If you don’t know what I am referring to than either you live outside the US or you just simply don’t watch television and have no idea what a Mac vs PC commercial is. If this is the case then I suggest you sit your tightly firmed buttox on the couch grab a back of chips and start channel surfing like the rest of America.

Requiem

Somehow I have completely missed the DVD release of Alien v Predator : Requiem. I haven’t seen any of the Alien movies or the Predator series, but I did see the first Alien Vs Predator and I thought that it was pretty good. Ever since watching it I have been wanting to sit down and watch the whole series, but due to work I can’t really find the time. Maybe I will take a day off and lay in bed and watch the movies I have been meaning to watch for a while now. If I did that it would be Alien, then Predator, then the Alien vs Predator series.

A lot of people actually don’t like when two franchises team up, but I do. It puts to rest the questions of what wopuld happen if person A fought person B. Like with Freddy vs Jason, I thought it was great and I would have liked to see the Freddy vs Jason vs Ash sequel, but it doesn’t look like that is ever going to happen.

Red Ring of Death

So as I finish up work for the night I decide that instead of going right to bed I want to kill some people and steal some cars. I go to turn on my Xbox 360 and to my horror and shock I had 3 red quadrants on the 360.

Yes that’s right I have received the Red Ring of Death on my 360. As any 360 owner knows, this is the worst problem with that a 360 can have. Basically it means that some hardware in the machine has failed and needs to be repaired. I bought my Xbox in 2006 so I should still be covered under the three year warranty that they issued out a few months back. I am going to be calling them tomorrow and hopefully I can send it out by Wednesday of next week.

Up until now I haven’t had a problem with the console. It has provided hours upon hours of entertainment for me and I hope that Microsoft has a quick turn around time. Who knows, I heard you don’t get your Xbox back so maybe I will receive one with an HDMI port, though I doubt it.

Make It Count

For some reason I love cards like that. Not many people send them during the holidays anymore, you usually get ones that come out of a box of prewritten cards with the only uniqueness to them is that the person who sent it took the time to write your name and sign theirs. I think that is pathetic, honestly. What is the point of taking the time to send out holiday cards if they aren’t going to be done with care and a bit of uniqueness to each card?

The card above is a personal picture card that can be made and sent out during holidays. I think those cards are a great idea, not only just around Christmas, but also for birthdays and just days when you want people to share in experiences with you, but couldn’t be there. What I mean is they would be great for birth announcements, or to tell people how your trip was. They could be used as wedding thank you cards, or anything you want really. It is when people get lazy and use the same old cards is it that people won’t remember it. If they received something personal like that then you have a better chance of them keeping it, or at least having it stand out in someone’s mind.

If My Aunt had a Penis She’d be my Uncle

Think about that for a minute. One little change and everything could be different. My aunt acts more manly than her husband did, but if she had a penis she would be a man. It is kind of like that car commercial where one little change makes a big difference, and replacing a vagina with a penis would definitely be a big change.

I am not quite sure how big of a change that would be though, like I said she was already more manly than her husband. I don’t mean any disrespect, but she is the one who fixed things around the house, went fishing, and loved camping. She learned it from her mother, so I wonder if she had the anatomy of a man if she would be completely different. Who knows, she might be the girliest man alive.

Windows Hosting

Before I started experimenting in PHP on my own server, I was trying to figure out how to host my own Windows server off my computer. A few years before someone told me about PHP, I saw that I could use the same stuff I was learning in QBASIC and Visual BASIC on a website. Of course I never got it working and I never did go to windows web hosting because I found PHP.

While PHP and MySQL is good, I have found that there are simply some things that would be easier on Windows. It seems that with the time Windows has had to develop their server and database software they have more features and you can essentially do more with the built in tools.

Is the Puppy Sick?

I don’t think BBella is feeling well. She has had diarrhea for a while, plus she doesn’t seem as playful as she normally does. It sucks because we can’t afford to take her to even the cheapest vet down here. If she doesn’t get better in a few days I think we are going to figure out how to afford to get her looked at. It might not be a problem though, but it could affect some future plans we have.
