Back when I was in college, I wanted to have a degree or a certification in anything and everything I could. I wanted to have a certificate in web programming, A+ and Cisco certification, degrees in Computer Science and Web Design. Looking back I realize how impractical and illogical this is, but I still wonder about some of these things, like the Cisco certification.
I have done some aspects of network security, but that was with the programs and firewalls that I would use to block out intruders from an in house network, I never have done anything more advanced than that though. I would love to do the network security for a huge building, but I would need the network security backround that a Cisco Certification would offer. I think that if I ever do have an in house server then I might pick up a bunch of books on the subject, maybe trying for a certification after I put a full blown secure network together, but I doubt I will do it before hand. That is a dream that is going to have to be put off for a while though due to lack of funs, and the lack of a real need for an in house full blown server.
I may not have the money right now, but I know that eventually I will be able to go back to school, a good school, to get all the training I want and need to do what I want to do, which at this point I am doing, I would just like more education behind what I am doing and where I am going with it all.
