Update: Clark Gregg posted Zodiac on his Instagram. Could he be teasing his return as Agent Coulson? Last time he was seen in a movie was Captain Marvel, but he was featured in his own show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. after dying in the original Avengers movie.
Marvel Television presented at NY Comic Con today and they brought some big surprises with them. As part of their presentation, they announced Zodiac. If Zodiac sounds familiar, it's because I talked about it in a previous post.
Zodiac Release Date and Details
Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum announced Zodiac as a global spy thriller coming to Disney+ in 2028. Filming begins in London in spring 2027, and Winderbaum said casting starts in a couple of weeks. No cast, plot, or creative team has been announced yet.
Zodiac Logo and S.H.I.E.L.D. Clues
Winderbaum said the title design hides a few clues for anyone who knows the comics. The logo is interesting. The A has an eagle, facing right like the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo has. If they do reset the universe, that could mean that S.H.I.E.L.D. never broke up or that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. could become canon in it. A reset means that anything is possible as of right now, before we know how much changes.
Zodiac in the MCU: The Agent Carter One-Shot
Another possibility though, is that it's a continuation of a loose thread in the MCU. In 2013, an Agent Carter One-Shot came out, where she received information about a Zodiac base. Of course she goes to check it out and fights guards to recover a vial of a blue liquid weapon. Not much is known about the Zodiac organization. Captain America: The Winter Soldier Prelude has the Zodiac weapon in play until it was returned to S.H.I.E.L.D. custody. It's possible that they make a comeback in this new reset universe.
Can Zodiac Be Better Than Secret Invasion?
As long as it's better than Secret Invasion, that's all I ask. The Multiverse Saga had a lot of missteps, but I think this was the worst thing they ever did. From the AI opening, to Rhodey being a Skrull since Civil War, they even killed Maria Hill. Samuel L. Jackson was flawless in it, but he deserves better.
Everything Else Marvel Showed at NYCC 2026
X-Men '97 Season 3 premieres in 2027, and the footage teased the Brotherhood of Mutants and a wedding for Gambit and Rogue. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 arrives on Disney+ January 13 with a black symbiote suit. Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, the final season, debuts in 2027 and brought Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, and Finn Jones on stage. VisionQuest premieres October 14, and its first episode screened at the panel. Marvel Zombies will return with three two-part specials, starting with Marvel Zombies: The Winter Soldier for Halloween 2027. I guess Marvel Disney+ shows aren't stopping after all.
