Almost a year after officially closing the doors, it appears that Rooster Teeth is coming back. Burnie Burns announced that he had completed the acquisition of the brand and it’s remaining properties via their website and a YouTube video. For the first time in more than a decade, Rooster Teeth is independent again.
Rooster Teeth was co-founded by Burns in 2003 and their flagship show Red Vs Blue ran from 2003 to 2024 when the company shut down. Throughout the company’s history they had many shows, both live action and animated. It’s currently not yet known what for sure will be coming back, though the website lists Red Vs Blue, Burns’ podcast Morning Somewhere, the RT Podcast, and Camp Camp. Through a press release, Burns said “I am excited at the challenge of bringing Rooster Teeth back to its roots”. What that looks like exactly is unknown. We do know that it includes a reimagining of Burns’ first movie, The Schedule.
While Rooster Teeth had a lot of shows and spinoffs, it is known that the acquisition does not include Achievement Hunter, RWBY, or Funhaus. Whatever the future of Rooster Teeth holds, with one of the original creators back steering the ship, it could bring the brand back to where it once was. This should be interesting to watch.
