I miss watching “All in the Family”. I was watching “Everybody Loves Raymond” and I saw their kitchen and realized that it was the same one as in “All in the Family”. I don’t know why “All in the Family” or “Archie’s Place” aren’t in syndication, it might be because of political correctness and they can’t show it on television anymore. They show disclaimers on ABC Family before “That 70’s Show”, which is no where near as bad.
It seems that the solution for getting over cultural differences is to pretend they aren’t there anymore. Isn’t it not right to say someone is black anymore? African American is also wrong because someone might be black and not be from African ancestry, of course there are also white people from Africa, so that would make them African Americans too, I suppose. Maybe Kwanzaa is the right idea, a holiday to celebrate what you are in America. I say that white people have one too, along with all other people from different cultural backgrounds.
White Holiday will now be known for celebrating being white in America. Jié rì can be for the Chinese Americans. Come on everyone, let’s stop trying to pretend we are all the same and celebrate the differences without being called racist. Let’s have an all Japanese television station and an all white radio station, be proud of who you are and where you came from!
I agree with this. And yet, even though the US is the most chaste when it comes to television, we have the highest rate of crime. 🙁
Yeah, it’s sad that long gone are the days, in which you can just call something like it is. People feel like they have to protect other people, etc. And it’s a shame!
Till then,
Jean
