I am fiscally responsible now (sort of), but when I first turned 18, I got my first credit card, a Home Depot Card, which I used to rack up some debt. I soon went onto Macy’s, Capital One and Chase credit cards. I am still trying to pay down some of this debt. I can’t say that I wouldn’t do it over again because with the cards I bought a Playstation 2, Xbox 360, Wii, television, and a bunch of other items I couldn’t see myself living without today. The other day we went and applied for financing for one (or possibly 2) of the last remaining 17″ Macbook Pro’s, but we weren’t successful. Kris and I did however acquire our first joint credit card. It’s a Best Buy card and we will be using it in the near future to purchase a Playstation 3, Wii U, and possibly a new monitor for myself, as this refurbished one I bought a few months ago is quickly dying.
I will be sure to bank enough to pay off at least half the debt in the first bill due, this way I can increase our credit scores and be able to put things off over multiple months. I am not too worried about being able to pay everything off more quickly though, as some things have changed and Kris and I will be getting a lot more work in the coming weeks it seems. Hopefully we will get enough to completely get rid of some of the useless loans we have (Kris’s personal loan, smaller limit credit cards, etc). I think all i all things are looking up, so hopefully we will be seeing some big changes soon.
