I think if a bar really wants to stand out from the crowd then it needs to really put its best foot forward. Now I don’t mean just by using the best vodka, or the freshest limes, I am talking about having everything top notch, including the decorating. Many people do not want to be drinking in a dive bar, so I think the first thing that any bar would need to loose that reputation would be to upgrade the Bar Stool.
You really can’t update the bar, its a piece of wood that you serve drinks on. Other than a nice polish, or some new paint, there really isn’t much you can do. Bar stools are much more versatile though. Some of the classiest bars I have been to got rid of the ordinary backless stools and replaced them with newer Contemporary Barstools. Sometimes a bar is more than just a bar though, so it has other places to sit than just right at the bar, that Seating is just as important as the ones nearest to the bar, so changing them with a matching style is also important if you want your bar to have a new style.
