PowerWash Simulator 2 is a cleaning simulator developed and published by FuturLab. It's a sequel to the 2022 cleaning sim PowerWash Simulator, and it sticks to the formula that made the first one work. The game was announced on March 13, 2025 for Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A Nintendo Switch 2 version was confirmed on September 12, and the release date trailer followed on October 7. The game launched on October 23, 2025 on all four platforms, with the PC version available through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store. PowerWash Simulator 2 launched into Game Pass on day one and it is an Xbox Play Anywhere title. I streamed the Xbox PC version of the game.
The player grabs a pressure washer and strips every last patch of grime off whatever the client needs cleaned, swapping nozzles along the way. There's no timer and no fail state, just a progress bar and that little ding when another piece of the job is done.
What changes is the scale. The 38-job career now stretches beyond Muckingham into the rest of Caldera County, with stops in Lubri City, Pumpton, Sponge Valley, and Power Falls. The business has moved out of the garage and into a real Home Base, and the new gear includes a scissor lift and an abseiling rig for the taller jobs.

PowerWash Simulator 2 Story Explained
PowerWash Simulator 2 picks up three years after the first game, when the Power Washer helped stop the Mount Rushless volcano from erupting. Like the original, the story plays out through text messages from clients and friends that pop up mid-job, along with newspaper clippings pinned to Harper's board back at the Home Base. FuturLab has said the sequel answers some of the first game's open questions while raising new ones. Full story spoilers follow.
Harper Shaw and the New Home Base
The Power Washer and their friend Harper Shaw sink their earnings into a new building in Muckingham, turning the operation into a proper business with its own headquarters. The pinboard in Harper's office keeps track of the story as it unfolds, and it's the easiest place to catch up on any of the story you might have missed.
Jeff Jefferson XIII Becomes Mayor of Caldera County
Disgraced former Muckingham mayor Jeff Jefferson XIII somehow fails upward and becomes mayor of all of Caldera County. His big idea is a Town of the Year competition, which he uses to squeeze favors out of every town hoping to win. That contest drives a lot of the Power Washer's work, since towns start renovating to impress the judges, and there's plenty of cleanup after residents protest how openly corrupt Jefferson is being.

I loved this game (was I stoned when I made this image? WTF?)
Ulysses the Cat and the Custody Fight
Jefferson also wants his cat back. Ulysses was abandoned by the mayor, and the Power Washer and Harper have been looking after her ever since. Jefferson threatens legal action if they don't hand her over, and lawyer Xavion LeSage later confirms the mayor technically still owns her because ownership was never formally transferred.

We have to be very precise with our cleaning
The Stolen Merman Statue Jewels and Mount Rushless
The jewels go missing from Muckingham's giant merman statue, which shuts down the stabilizing beam pointed at Mount Rushless. While cleaning the local monks' temple, the Power Washer opens a secret passage and finds Harper's old cell phone. On it are messages from the time traveler Ceruleon Skye, who got trapped in the past while trying to prevent another cataclysm in the present, warning that the jewels have to go back on the statue.
Geologist Karen Chissell explains that the jewels are made of pacithyst, a rare mineral created when an unknown planet collided with Earth eons ago. It's the same mineral Blake Thrust was after when he started his mining operation three years earlier. Since the jewels disappeared, Chissell has tracked heavy seismic activity at Mount Rushless and on the moon, which has started visibly spinning in the sky.

I like this here and I am keeping it here
How Jeff Jefferson Gets Caught
The Power Washer cleans the home of Xavion LeSage, a lawyer who went into seclusion after a dirty jury sank his case against Jefferson. Meanwhile, a mysterious roving dirt storm keeps knocking out equipment at a covert mining operation. When the Power Washer is hired to clean a transport truck caught in that storm, the stolen jewels turn up inside, along with a phone full of messages showing Jefferson planned to smuggle them to Blake Thrust. With LeSage prosecuting, Jefferson is stripped of his position and arrested, and Ulysses finally becomes the Power Washer's cat on paper.

The only difference between you and me is you clean the dance floor, I dance on the dance floor
PowerWash Simulator 2 Ending Explained
Caldera County swaps the Town of the Year ceremony for a communal festival. Harper reinstalls the jewels, which fires a second beam, but the moon keeps spinning out of control. Following the beam up Mount Rushless, the Power Washer finds a door leading to a huge pacithyst deposit and an unknown Pacifist relic. Dirt is blocking the beam from activating the relic, so the last job of the story is cleaning it. Once it's spotless, another beam hits the moon and its rotation returns to normal. The game closes with the Power Washer watching the festival fireworks with Ulysses and her kittens.

OOOO Pretty!
What's New in PowerWash Simulator 2 Gameplay
Unlimited Soap and the Adaptable Nozzle
Soap was a limited resource in the original, with different types for different surfaces and refills to buy. In PowerWash Simulator 2 soap is unlimited and works on every surface. It stays visible once it's applied to grime, which makes stubborn stains a lot less annoying to track. The soap also makes cleaning some of the tougher dirt much easier, even with a weaker nozzle, maybe even too easy. There were times where I would limit the soap I used because it felt like cheating. The new Adaptable Nozzle can be adjusted manually instead of swapping between fixed tips, and a couple of achievements ask for an entire job cleared with nothing else.
Surface Cleaner, Scissor Lift, and Abseiling Rig
The circular surface cleaner covers flat ground with a much wider radius than a standard nozzle, turning driveways and floors into quick work. Certain jobs also hand over mission-specific gear. The scissor lift raises and lowers to reach different heights, while the abseiling equipment lets the player move along the side of a building while spraying. FuturLab lead designer Nick McCarthy has said the lift came out of the bigger levels needing an easier way to get around.
Multi-Stage Jobs and the Dirt Finder
Some jobs now unfold in stages, so finishing one set of objects reveals the next. Cleaning the outside of a restroom before the inside opens up is one example. When a job is close to done, the new dirt finder highlights spots on the map that still have grime on them, which cuts down on the end-of-job hunt for that last missing percent.

You sprayed me in a very sensitive spot
PowerWash Simulator 2 Home Base and Cats
The Home Base is the hub between jobs. New work gets picked from a large Job Map, and every finished job adds a memento to a shelf in the office that can be used to replay it later. Furniture bought for the Home Base shows up dirty, so it has to be cleaned before it can be placed. There are also three cats living there, and petting all of them is an achievement.
Jobs pay out both money and PowerWash Points. Money goes toward new washers and attachments. Points go toward cosmetics for the washer and the van, outfits for the Power Washer, and Home Base furniture.
Does PowerWash Simulator 2 Have Split-Screen Co-op?
PowerWash Simulator 2 adds two-player local split-screen, something the first game didn't have, on top of four-player online co-op. Campaign progression is shared in multiplayer, so jobs cleared with friends count toward the career instead of living in a separate save. On Xbox consoles, online multiplayer requires Game Pass Essential, Premium, or Ultimate.

I know I had an accident in this Penske truck, but it's cool they forgave it if I just washed it.
PowerWash Simulator 2 DLC: Adventure Time, Star Wars, and Barbie
FuturLab laid out a 2026 roadmap at launch with three paid crossover packs and free Caldera Chronicles jobs dropping alongside them. That follows the pattern from the first game, which got crossover packs for Final Fantasy VII Remake, SpongeBob SquarePants, Tomb Raider, Back to the Future, and more.
PowerWash Simulator 2 Adventure Time Pack
The Adventure Time pack launched on April 9, 2026 for $7.99, with the Switch 2 version delayed by at least two weeks. It includes five jobs set in the Land of Ooo: the Candy Vehicles, Ice King's Castle, the Tree House, the Living Room, and Pizza Sassy's. The Tree House job has a Jake-themed scissor lift, and BMO can be petted in the Living Room.
PowerWash Simulator 2 Star Wars Pack
The Star Wars pack arrived on July 16, 2026. Jobs include the X-wing Fighter, the Millennium Falcon, an AT-AT, the Lars Homestead on Tatooine, the Mos Eisley Cantina, and the bridge of a Super Star Destroyer. The achievement names lean hard into movie quotes, and there's a hidden blaster cannon on the Falcon plus Luke's T-16 Skyhopper parked at the Lars Homestead.
PowerWash Simulator 2 Barbie Pack
FuturLab announced the Barbie pack in September 2026 as the third paid DLC, set for late 2026. It includes five levels based on official Barbie playsets and accessories, including the Dreamhouse, and comes with a pink outfit and matching equipment for the Power Washer.

I'm on top of the world, literally!
