Jets’n’Guns is a 2d side scroller plane shooter. It was developed by Rake in Grass. It was published by Rake in Grass, Reflexive Entertainment, Stardock, Soft-World, and Linux Game Publishing. The game was released on November 17, 2004 for Windows. On April 19, 2006 the game was released for OSX. Linux got the game on January 30, 2009. It came to Nintendo Switch on December 16, 2019. On December 1, 2006 an expanded version of the game called Jets’n’Guns Gold was released. In 2023, players reported bugs in the Linux version of the game. Since it worked well with Windows emulators and because they didn’t have a Linux programmer on staff, they made the decision to remove the Linux version.

You start out as a freelancer sent to clear out criminals from a sector of space. Soon after an old commanding officer contacts you to help take down the evil dictator Xoxx. He has kidnapped Professor Von Hamburger who created a quantum cannon that Xoxx wants to use to destroy the universe.
The first step to stopping Xoxx is to stal a better fighter plane. After that, you have to fight Xoxx’s forces and eventually Xoxx himself. Before you can stop him, he escapes in a backup time washing machine. After getting to a restaurant, you get a time machine upgrade for your fighter plane. Using it to go back to the beginning of the game to chase down Xoxx again.
