As Dusk Fall is an adventure game developed by Interior Night and published by Xbox Game Studios. It was released on July 19, 2022 for Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Interior Night published the game for PS4 and PS5 on March 7, 2024. The series is broken into two books and your choices could affect the game in unexpected ways.
Book One: Collision
In 1998, the Walker family, Vince, his wife Michelle, their daughter Zoe, and Vince’s dad Jim, are moving to Missouri. While driving through Two Rock, Arizona, they are forced to stop at the Desert Dream, a local motel when their car is left immobile. At the same time, the Holt brothers, Tyler, Dale, and Jay rob the local sheriff’s house. They intend to steal thousands of dollars from Sheriff Dante, but are forced to flee when Dante comes home early. With them on the run, they hold up at the Desert Dream motel and take the staff and guests hostage.
Through flashbacks you learn that the Walker’s marriage is having problems. Vince was fired and is under pressure to take a bribe in exchange for taking the blame for a technical fault in which he warned them about. Michelle is having an affair with her coworker. Jim recently came back into Vince’s life, but has a brain tumor. The Holts also come from a dysfunctional family. Their father, Bear is a gambling addict. The three brothers were trying to rob the sheriff to pay off his gambling debts. Meanwhile Bear kills himself for the insurance money. (There is an option to save him).
Back at the motel, the Holts’ mom convinced the police to let her in to get her sons to surrender. Instead, once she’s inside she plots with them to plan their escape. The Holt family escape by ramming a bus through the front of the building, having it explode and they escape with a hostage. They take Vince as a hostage.
