The Final Station is a side scrolling game developed by Do My Best Games. It was published by tinyBuild. The game was released on August 30, 2016 for Windows, Playstation 4, and OS X. On September 2, 2016 it released for Xbox One. Linux got the game on November 24, 2016. On February 23, 2018 the game came to the Nintendo Switch.
Edward Jones is a train operator. 106 years after what is known as “The First Visitation”, Jones is in charge of taking an experimental train to get some special cargo. While on the way, he sees cities and towns being turned into monsters by a mysterious infection. Jones realized that this might be “The Second Visitation”. Eventually Jones reaches the cargo which ends up being a power source and CPU for the Guardian, a machine that is supposed to protect people from the “Second Visitation”. Jones then has to take them to Metropole where the Guardian is being constructed.
On the way home, Jones picks up a stranger named Arthur Vane. Vane tells him that the infection isn’t a virus at all, in fact it’s the opposite. It’s a medicine that was supposed to make people stronger. Jones isn’t being affected because of the radiation of the train’s engine. When the train breaks down, Jones has no choice, but to finish the trip home by walking. Along the way he sees the Guardian’s wreckage and is exposed to poisonous gas. As he gets home, he finds that some people are immune and they are already rebuilding society. Jones starts showing signs of the infection. Jones finally reaches his home, but is too weak and the infection overtakes him before he can see his daughter one last time. Vane arrives at Jones’ home and tells Jones that he will look after his daughter. Vane then kills Jones.
