So It’s Official

It is official, I am moving to New York. Technically I have been up here for a while, it is just official that I now need to figure out how to get my stuff up here. I am trying to figure out how much it would be to get a UHaul up here then driving it back to Delaware loading it up and then driving it back to NY. Of course no matter what I do I need money, and I think it will need to wait until Krissy gets her first paycheck, or until I get some high paying jobs that can give me a lump some of money. Either way it is going to be a little while.

Cologne

I am always looking for good deals on stuff, and when I find deals on bottle perfume and cologne, I make sure I keep it bookmarked. See I like to smell my best, so I always try and keep a bottle of my favorite cologne, Michael Jordan, on hand. The new stuff that smells really good can be expensive, so finding it at a good deal is always a nice find, although honestly I have stuck with Michael Jordan for years now since I don’t really like the way most of the other colognes smell. I guess that is just my preference though, I am going to be one of the old guys wearing the Michael Jordan cologne like old guys today wear Brut.

Back to the Clinic

Krissy’s tooth is killing her and she needs to get it sorted out since she may or may not be starting a job on Monday. We are going to the clinic today to get her tooth looked at and hopefully they can give her some antibiotics so that when the infection is gone, she will have insurance and finally get her teeth fixed. Of course that is all dependent on if she starts her job on Monday, see they don’t know if she is approved to work yet. The hiring manager liked her, but she is waiting on corporate to see if they can hire Krissy. Hopefully they hire her so we can finally start the ball rolling on getting our own place.

Nintendo Wii

The Nintendo Wii is not like any other home video game console out there. It is the first video game console to use motion controlled features, and with added peripherals like the Balance Board, it is surprising that none of the other consoles have brought out motion sensing technology the way Nintendo has. Microsoft doesn’t even seem to be after that kind of thing, and Sony’s motion sensing technology limits you to tilting the controller. Wii does it in a way where even the simplest tasks, things you do everyday, take on new meaning. Check out the Order Up! Trailer, all those controls are done with the Wiimote and your movement of it. Nintendo does have its flaws, like the lack of online play, but I can see why Nintendo left that out, they want people to come together and play, that is what makes the games that much more fun, though I find that being online and playing can be just as fun, so hopefully Nintendo will get online play right with their next console.

Wheels in Motion

I have a couple of things in place right now, both with work and with Lep’s Lair. Hopefully today I will know something that will allow me to expand one section to the point of it not looking so empty. I also am going to be bringing back a section that has been gone for a while, that was somewhat popular. I hated to see this section go, but when I was cleaning things up I couldn’t save it, so it went to the chopping block. When it comes back, I am hoping to do a lot more with it.

Both of the things I mentioned above are also going to hopefully be worked into my backend that I have had up for a while. The admin panel is something that I created, that I could sell if I wanted to, or I might make a tutorial for it, or just put it up free. I mean all it is is password protected files, which would be easy to put in a downloadable form. What do you think?

Freelance Focus

As a freelance website programmer, I am always looking for freelance jobs whether it be through people that I know, or through websites like Freelance Nation. I can understand why companies like freelancers, they are usually cheaper than hiring someone on salary and they don’t need to keep them on longer than needed, so really it helps businesses, especially ones without the resources to have extra staff on hand full time. As a freelancer I know the perks of being one, the biggest one for me is not having a boss to report to, I can come and go as I please, make as much as I need or want, and take on multiple clients without worrying about conflict of interest arrising, since all parties know that I am neutral and will work on as many projects as I can handle, no matter what kind they are.

As it is right now, I have two clients who are both freelance, one who is a solid client and I am pretty much on a weekly payment schedule with him, but he is still a client. The other one is a friend of Krissy’s who has given me work from a couple companies, including her father a few times, since she knows that I am dedicated to my work. That can be a major issue with a lot of freelancers, they don’t have a boss, and they don’t have a set schedule to work so things fall apart and then they are screwed in the end and so is their client. If you are going to freelance you need to maintain your focus and be able to get the stuff done when the client wants.

A lot of freelance websites that allow companies and freelancers to hook up will have a rating system for just that reason. If one company was screwed over by a freelancer, then they wouldn’t want the freelancer to do the same thing to another company. If you need to go to court because they messed up and couldn’t handle it, then that is something that needs to be dealt with and needs the public to know, which is why I like those places that allow the businesses to leave feedback on the freelancer, this way people will know that I will not screw them like others have.

Baby Shower Invitations

I love Vistaprint, ever since I first saw their site, I knew that a lot of people I know, and a lot of people in general would start getting their customized products from them. I was right. I know some people who have wedding invitations printed up through them because they are more affordable than going any place else. They aren’t giving up any quality either, the invitations are beautiful and are what you would expect even if you went and got hand made ones.

It isn’t just for weddings either, some people I know have been planning on using them for other types of parties, like birthday and baby showers. Baby shower invitations are really big right now too, a lot of people are popping out kids. I know three people I went to high school with who are all due in October. I told them about Vistaprint and they were thinking about going there for the invitations for the baby shower, even the baby announcement after it is born for all the family and friends who couldn’t be apart of it.

The thing that is cool about them is that no matter what kind of invation you get, wedding, birthday, baby shower, if you use the discount code FreeInvite, you get 10 Free Invites. Now that is a good deal if you ask me.

Wallpapers for your Myspace

If you check out the wallpapers in the Funbox, you will notice that now they feature codes along with the different values for you to put it on your Myspace. This is to make room for some new wallpapers that I have coming up, which will just kick off the entire Myspace stuff that I have recently aquired. I just hope things go as smoothly as I hope, and that I have more wallpapers soon, so far I have about 6 or 7 to put up, but I am hoping that after the rest of the stuff is up that I can find some other inspirations and whatnot for wallpapers.

Online Auto Loans

I have been looking at Online Auto Loans lately, just to see what they have available and what I might be able to get, just in case I would need to get one. I hate the idea of taking out a loan, unless of course it was to pay off my credit cards or something good like that, but if it comes down to it, it looks like I might need to take out an auto loan.

At least with an auto loan I could pay it off over time, not like Pay Day Loans where everything is due on your next paycheck. I mean it is good if you are just short for something unexpected and you will have the money when you get paid again, but otherwise a long term loan is the way to go.

Sofa Beds

I really like the idea of Sofa Beds. They are great for studio apartments or they are great for when guests come over and spend the night. When your guests leave the bed can then be put away. I think that is the route I am always going to go, this way a spare bedroom can be used as an office or a media room or something that I could actually use instead of a spare bedroom, after all why would I want a spare bedroom that will only be used when someone comes to visit? A lot of the people I know don’t even need a bed, just a pillow and possibly a blanket, so having one or two Sofa Beds would be four star living to them.

So Many Bathroom Vanities

Krissy has been obsessing over bathroom vanities lately. It is probably because the bathrooms at her father’s place are falling apart, her sister put her hip through one of the walls and the other one needs to be retiled, it was worse, but it has been fixed to the point where it just needs a tub and the stuff around the tub, like Bath Fitter offers. Anyway she has been looking at bathroom vanities for some reason and I don’t even know why considering there is a new vanity in there, I think she is just as shocked as I am that there so many different styles and different purposes. Maybe one day I will understand what all those purposes are, I mean some of the stuff that are specifically designed for women just plain confuses me.

I like Wireless?

So I finally went out and bought a keyboard and mouse for the Mac. I got tired of using the tiny ones that came with it, so I went to Office Max and bought a set that was wireless and only $40. Now if you have ever talked to me, I hate wireless, mainly because I don’t want to switch out the batteries. I guess something changed in me, much like it did when I first got the 360 and had the wireless controller, I actually enjoy it now. I also seem more productive with a mouse and keyboard I am more comfortable with.
