Saturday Special 7/18/07

1. You are driving down a lonely road at night when in front of you, you see an elderly man taking a sheep for a walk.

2. You stop the car and get out to question the man as to why the sheep is in a diaper.

3. In the background you hear an elephant’s howl.

4. You return to your car and wonder if it is time to put my father in a nursing home.

Comcast Phone Service

I’ve had a broadband phone service in some form for a few years now. You always hear horror stories about if the lights go out then you don’t have a phone and 911 won’t work. The truth is that you can have a battery backup put on your modem, they are relatively cheap, and most cities now have an option for you to tell them where a phone number is address wise, so you can dial 911 and not have to worry about if they will find you, because they will.

It usually comes with great calling features too, like call waiting, and caller ID. Comcast usually has the best price when it comes to broadband phones, mainly because they will lower the price if you have all three services. It is nice to have everything on one bill, this way only one bill needs to get paid instead of worrying about three separate ones. What I love about it is that the call quality is excellent. I’ve never been asked if I was on a cellphone, or if I was on a VOIP phone with Comcast, it is just that good. If you are looking to ditch the phone company and want an affordable alternative, then why not go with Comcast phone service?

I’m a Wolf?

I’ve been playing Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and I have gotten to a point where I’m a wolf. While I am a bit annoyed at this, considering I’d like to attack with a sword via the Wiimote, I must admit that it does add a bit of mystery to the game itself. I guess I will have to wait and see where this is headed.

Maybe Found a Place

I’ve been calling places in Ohio all morning, one place seems perfect, the only problem is there is only one apartment left so I am going to wait until Krissy wakes up and talk to her about it. The thing with this place is that it would be less than $600 a month rent and all the utilities are included, we’d just need to pay for cable and a phone.

If we decided to move into that place then I think we’d be able to put money in our Checking and Savings accounts. Right now Krissy doesn’t have a bank account and I have one that I use to pay off credit cards, everything else is through cash, and that’s because I don’t want to use Bank accounts (even though a credit card is a lot worse). I’m just glad that I dont have any of those bad credit bank accounts thaty so many people have. Hopefully I will be able to get out of this hole soon enough to get out of here.

Zelda

Krissy bought me Zelda the Twilight Princess for the Wii yesterday. The day before, we picked up Monkeyball and a rechargeable battery and charger for the XBox 360. Now I can play Halo 3 for 24 hours and not have to worry about batteries.

I’ve been looking at games for the Playstation 3, and the only one I could find that looked cool was Warhawk, but I am not spending $600 for one game, all the other games that will be on the Playstation 3 will also be on the 360, so it really isn’t worth it. I just wish Warhawk would make its appearance on the 360.

Trying to Move

We want to move. The only problem is that we need a loan, and my credit is less than satisfactory. I’ve been paying back my other Loans very slowly. I’ve gone from $2500 down to just above $1800 in the last few months. That’s good considering that I’ve had them since I was in high school. We don’t own a house, so it isn’t like we could Refinance it. We don’t want to be losing money in an apartment, although I think we’d end up saving money in the long run if the utilities were paid for. It would be perfect if we could actually find an affordable house, but the cheapest ones we’ve found were in Ohio and they were still up in the $50,000 range so we would need a Mortgage Loan. Krissy never was to Ohio, so we might be planning a trip there soon, maybe we could find some place to live while we’re there.

Bioshock is Scarey

I downloaded the Bioshock demo yesterday. It was creepy. I think the last time I was that freaked out playing a video game was when I was playing Resident Evil 2. The game looks awesome, but unfortunitely it reminded me too much of half life, and I didn’t really like Half Life all that much. I don’t think I will be purchasing it when it comes out.

This WordPress plugin will to count the visible characters in your post (including the spaces). After you unzip it, upload the plugin to your plugins directory and activate it. When you wish to count a character, just hit Count Characters, that’s all there is to it.

Note: If you are worried about it interfering with the Leprakhaun’s Word Count plugin, don’t. Both plugins work together or separate.

You can download it here.

Bioshock

The demo for Bioshock hit XBox Live this passed weekend, but I haven’t gotten around to downloading it. I have been checking out Bioshock for a while, and I had thought that it was a PS3 exclusive, but I am glad I am wrong. I’ve been busy with stuff the passed few days so that’s why I haven’t been able to get around to downloading it. Maybe I will set it to download and then walk away because I am hearing it is taking some people a few hours to download.

Buying a Clock

I have an odd taste when it comes to decor. I don’t like to have things that you would see in other people’s homes. I mean I have a surfboard and a sword in my office, how many people you know who have that? I’ve been scouring the web for odd decorations and I came across a clock website. Now I am not one for clocks, honestly I think clocks are, for the most part very boring, I think, but they do have some really great looking ones and some really odd looking ones.

Krissy and I have been looking for one for the office, we found a few interesting looking ones at different stores, but I especially love this pyramid clock. Isn’t that clock awesome looking? Maybe once I show it to her, we will be able to finally agree on one to buy. Clocks at 1-800-4CLOCKS has many different clocks, from grandfather clocks to atomic clocks.

I guess what they say is true, a face on a clock has its own personality. That’s what my grandmother always used to imply anyway, she had three rooms with maybe nine clocks, I think she had two in the bathroom at one point. Now that woman was really into clocks.

The Leprakhauns Are Back

I’ve replaced the default WordPress smilies with ones of my own, you might remember them from the forum. 🙂 So go ahead and start using them.

In other news, I’ve been thinking of another WordPress plugin, but I don’t know how popular it would be, so let me know what you think about it. It counts the characters of your post, much like the one that counts the words. I don’t think it would be that popular, but let me know what you guys think.

Blogging for a Union?

Apparently bloggers are trying to get a union together so that they can request things such as medical insurancem, collective bargaining, and even professional standards. Am I the only one to say that this is the craziest thing I’d ever heard?

First of all, if you aren’t getting paid to blog, then how does this even apply? Second, ifyou are blogging for free, then the union representatives will be hassling you for giving away your valuable information for free. I am assuming that this will not be affecting people who just blog about their everyday lives, but then if a union gets involved, then those will most likely have lawsuits against them for not joining.

How do bloggers go on strike anyway? Not write anything at all? Sit there all day typing “No No We Won’t Go”? Yes this is the dumbest thing I’ve heard recently.
