The past few years, Xbox has had Developer Direct press conferences at the beginning of the year. It’s where Hi-Fi Rush was shadow dropped and it’s usually where they announce a release date or two and show of a game that hasn’t been shown yet. There’s a rumor that not only is there going to be a Developer Direct in January of 2025, but that a remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be announced at that time. It was first rumored in 2023 when they said it was looking to release in late 2024 or early 2025, is it possible that it will be shadow dropped like Hi-Fi Rush was?
Personally I am excited about the possibility of an The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake. The original The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was a launch title for the Xbox 360 and the one game I bought with the console. As I played it though, I broke the game and couldn’t advance any further along, so I put it down and never played it again. A remake has me excited because I might be able to not break the game this time. I wasn’t even trying to break the game, I was just having fun knocking out guards with a stick that shot lightning and then it ran out of magic and I had no way to refill it’s magic. I think I needed the lightning to open a door and since I couldn’t refill it, I couldn’t get the door open.
I have wanted to go back and try it again, especially after beating Skyrim, but I never got around to it. A remake would definitely make me wanting to play it again much stronger.
What do you think, do you think there’s a shot that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion could be remade? Will it be a shadow drop or release sometime in 2025?
