Goat Simulator is an action video game developed and published by Coffee Stain Studios. The game was released for Microsoft Windows on April 1, 2014. On June 27, 2014 it was released for Mac OS X and Linux. Android and iOS got the game on September 17, 2014. Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions were released on April 17, 2015, while PlayStation 4 and PS3 versions came out on August 11, 2015. Nintendo Switch got the game in January 2019. Goat Simulator Remastered came out on November 7, 2024 for PS5, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.
The game started as a joke simulator after the company released their previous game, Sanctum 2. A video of the game was posted on YouTube where it got over a million views in two days. What started as a joke and a parody of other simulation games, demand grew quick for a full Goat Simulator game. The game is simple, you play as a goat and cause as much destruction as you can to get as many points as possible. Because of the popularity of the video and bugs seen in it, the developer did not want to fix any physics related bugs and left them in to maintain the same feel and look of the video.
After the initial release, new maps were added to the game, including ones that took inspiration from Grand Theft Auto, DayZ, Payday 2, and one inspired by MMOs. After 10 years, Goat Simulator Remastered was announced on August 20, 2024. It launched on Xbox Game Pass.
