It was developed by Beenox, with High Voltage Software making the 3DS and Gameloft making the Windows Phone, Android, and iOS versions. The game was published by Activision on April 17, 2014 for Android, iOS, and Windows Phone. It was released for Xbox 360, Wii U, Windows, Nintendo 3DS, PS3, and Playstation 4 on April 29, 2014. The Xbox One version released on May 12, 2014.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 follows Peter Parker as he searches for the truth behind Uncle Ben’s murder while confronting a wave of new threats rising across Manhattan. His investigation pulls him into a conflict involving street gangs, supervillains, and Oscorp’s dangerous experiments, forcing him to balance vengeance, responsibility, and the growing cost of being Spider-Man.

The Hunt for Uncle Ben’s Killer
Peter begins tracking a serial killer known as the Carnage Killer, believing he may be connected to Uncle Ben’s death. His search leads him through gang hideouts and criminal networks, revealing that the city’s underworld is shifting under the influence of new players. As Peter digs deeper, he discovers that the man he seeks is part of a much larger and deadlier pattern of violence.

Kingpin’s Rise
Wilson Fisk positions himself as a philanthropist offering to help the police clean up the streets. In reality, he is using the chaos to expand his criminal empire. Spider-Man uncovers Fisk’s alliances with Russian mobsters and Oscorp technology suppliers, exposing a citywide power grab. Despite their clashes, Fisk manipulates public opinion to paint Spider-Man as the real threat.
Electro and Oscorp
Oscorp’s experiments create new superpowered threats, including Max Dillon, who transforms into Electro after a lab accident. Consumed by anger and instability, Electro becomes one of Spider-Man’s most dangerous adversaries. Peter’s investigation reveals that Oscorp has been secretly developing enhanced soldiers and weaponized suits, many of which fall into the hands of criminals.

The Green Goblin
Harry Osborn, dying from a genetic illness, becomes desperate for a cure. His experiments with Oscorp’s venom samples accelerate his transformation into the Green Goblin. Harry blames Spider-Man for refusing to help him and unleashes a violent attack on the city, forcing Peter into a personal and emotional confrontation.
Carnage
The Carnage Killer is revealed to be Cletus Kasady, a psychopathic murderer who becomes bonded with an experimental symbiote. The fusion turns him into Carnage, a monstrous and unpredictable threat. Spider-Man battles him through a burning facility in one of the game’s final showdowns, stopping Kasady before he can spread his violence across Manhattan.
With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility
Peter ultimately accepts that vengeance will not bring Uncle Ben back. After defeating Carnage, Electro, the Green Goblin, and Fisk’s forces, he recommits to being the hero New York needs. The game ends with Spider-Man embracing his responsibility, even as the city continues to evolve with new dangers on the horizon.
