Leprakhauns Word Count WordPress Plugin

Attention WordPress 2.5 Users

Thanks to Michael, there is now a version of the Leprakhauns Word Count WordPress Plugin, you can get it here. It is the same plugin, it just adds it to the sidebar and adds functionality to be used with pages as well.

[Edit] 11/8/2007 I am happy to announce that it works in WordPress 2.3.1.[/Edit]

[Edit] 7/18/2007 I have updated it so that it will work whether or not you are in the visual editor.[/Edit]

[Edit]There’s an updated version up now. It should work on most if not all versions of WordPress 2.0. Sorry if it didn’t work before.[/Edit]

I created aWordpress plugin that will allow you to write a post and hit calculate and it will tell you how many words you’ve written. It only works in the visual editor, though. I created it because every other word count script I could find was having you save, or post your entry before telling you how many words. Mine will tell you without reloading the page. All you do is upload it to your wp-content/plugins folder.

You can get it here.

Medical News Website

Medical news is important to everyone, especially with so many people traveling from nation to nation. Well I found a medical news website that gives you information on medical news all over the world. It offers information on nutrition, vision, psychology, even plastic surgery.  Now if only they could integrate a nationwide, or a worldwide would be better, medical information system for patients.

Me Likeys WordPress

I like WordPress.  I put off doing it for so long because I had everything integrated into the forums, but now I can see why people flock to this program.  If you want to be a member of the forums, the registration is still available, with it you can play games and compete for the high score against other people.  You also get your own photo albums, for the time being.   Anything is subject to change now though, because I am no longer using them as a blog.

In other news I haven’t heard anyone blowing off their finger so that is good.  I brought back Spiderman 3 yesterday.  I liked the game, but I beat it and there isn’t much to do after you beat it, so I am retracting my previous statement and not buying it at this time.    I will be looking into Spiderman Friend or Foe when it comes out this fall though.

Can anyone suggest some WordPress plugins?  Preferably some that adds content without much effort?  Or suggest things you’d like to see in general, not having to do with WordPress.

The Math Tutor

I’ve never been good at math. In the past I’ve had to go to a math tutor or two. That’s the only reason that I passed Algebra in grammar school. Even then it wasn’t by much, but if I didn’t have that tutor, I would have definitely failed math. I used to think that tutors and teachers had it easy, but after working in a daycare and as a tutor for college students, I see how hard their jobs are. At least now I realize just how hard these people have it, I don’t think many people understand the pressure of trying to make someone understand something that they just don’t get. It can be really frustrating.

June 2007 Totals

So I’ve been thinking, maybe since I am posting and earning money from my site, I should start posting how much money I am making. It might encourage some of you to go out there and start making some income from your sites. I’m telling you now though, there’s a lot of small income from different places and I am hoping to change that soon.

PayPerPost- 114.50
Adbrite- 1.64
Text-Link-Ads- 5.18
Bidvertiser- .18 (LOL I don’t think I will be using them anymore)

I’ve made a total of $121.50 in the last month just on my site alone. I am hoping to make more in July. I’ve also made changes in advertising in the past month, I started using PayPerPost on the 15th. I’ve taken out the inline and interstitial ads for Adbrite, I took out Adbrite on the main site for a while there. See it may not be much, but I am making money with the site, and something that is a side project, it really is doing what I need it to. If this keeps up I will have more spending money and be able to pay for some new monitors, pay off my credit cards and have more money.

I want to go to Vegas

After my recent trip to Atlantic City, I have been wanting to go do some gambling. I’ve been thinking about going back to Atlantic City, but if I want to win the big money I will need to take go on a Las Vegas vacation. Of course I will need to pay off my bills first, which is why I am doing everything I can. Hopefully if and when I do go to Las Vegas, I will be able to win money, hopefully enough to payy off the debts I owe to people. No debts mean more fun right? Of course it does.

I am going to Upgrade to WordPress

I have decided that soon I will make the leap and use WordPress for my blog instead of the forum. The forums will still be up as people still play the games in there, plus if you are a member you have photo albums, but WordPress would be for the blog and the blog only. I realy hate to see it go, as this way has been unique in the way it has been set up, but it has become too impractical for me to continue doing it like this, so it will need to go. I don’t know when IO will have time to do it, but I am officially planning to get rid of the forum as the blog. It will also cut down on the spam.

TMI Tuesdays

1. Describe your first kiss.

Thinking back on it, it was very sloppy and many years ago.

2. Should a person’s pubic hair be trimmed, shaved, or just grown out as the jungle God intended it to be?

Shaved. If they are uncomfortable with a razor, then trimmed definitely. The jungle below is very unsexy.

3. What’s the best super-hero comic book movie ever made?

I wish I could say Spiderman, but Batman Begins beats it hands down.

4. Coke or Pepsi?

Coke.

5. Have you ever been caught masturbating?

I think everybody has been caught with their hand in their pants a time or two in their lives.

6. Which way do you lean your head when going for a kiss?

To the right apparently. (Thanks Krissy)

7. Jockstraps, sexy or no?

Whether they are sexy or not is irrelevant, they are uncomfortable.

New York City Living

I don’t make sense at times. I hate people, I hate the overcrowding of places, and I have grown accustomed to the country. One thing that has never changed though is that I’ve always wanted to live in New York. I know, New York the overcrowding capital of the world. I’m not even talking New York State, I’m talking New York City, Manhattan. I know crazy right? I was checking out New York City real estate and while I can’t afford it right this moment, maybe one day I could have an apartment in New York City overlooking Central Park, while still having houses in other states as well.

Roswell Crash, 1947

In July 1947, a weather balloon apparently crashed into the New Mexico desert, near Roswell. First the papers reported that it was an alien spacecraft. Not 24 hours later they changed their tune to the idea that it was a weather balloon. So what really did happen 60 years ago?

Walter Haut, the press office for the Roswell Military base claimed in 1947 that the incident was a weather balloon. Mr. Haut died in December of 2005, leaving behind affidavits, which were recently opened. These documents reveal that it wasn’t a weather balloon that crashed that night, but a spacecraft. Not only does he claim to have seen the spacecraft, but he claims to have seen the occupants as well.

Sixty years has passed, are we one step closer to knowing the truth about the Roswell crash of 1947? And what if there are aliens out there, has the government tried to make contact with them? Only time will tell for certain.

You can catch up on the rest of the story here

Watches

When I’m out, I like to know what time it is, but I don’t have a cell phone and I never could find a watch that I really liked. I mean I used to wear one all the time, but they were cheap ones that broke easily, or the battery died and the battery was more than the watch itself. Some of the cheaply made watches are also made poorly so they pull my hair when I’m wearing it. I was looking for watches this morning and I found a few that weren’t that bad. I think I would pick up an Invicta watch. Those don’t look too bad and for the price seem to be decent quality.
