Krissy Loves the Wii

Krissy has been playing the Wii since we got it. Now this is somewhat of a shock, considering, yes she plays the DS that I got her for Valentine’s Day, and yes she does play the occasional game of Hexic. But this is a girl who told me when I met her that she hated video games, and now here she is, seven hours later still playing Wii Sports bowling and tennis. She keeps kicking my ass.

Jewelry for the Stupid Times

I shiop online, I just bought a Wii didn’t I? Well now when I am shopping online I can get things for cheaper. I found a website that coupons for over 6000 stores. It even has a jewelry tv coupon so when I buy Krissy jewelry for a special occassion, or a time when I did something stupid (face it men we all do stupid stuff at times that require jewelry) I can get it at a discount.

Wii is Here

The Wii arrived today, earlier than expected. It is great. Krissy and I have been playing tennis, bowling, and baseball. The games are just fun in general. It isn’t your traditional game system, that’s for sure. Nintendo definitely knew what they were doing when they made it.

Metroid Prime 3 comes out later this month, which I am definitely going to get. I just wish there was some online games, at least Mario Kart will be online, now that game is fun no matter what system you are on.

San Francisco

San Francisco, home of the Tanner’s house from Full House and the home of Battlebots, the only show on television where specially designed radio controlled robots beat the crap out of each other. It is also home to trolleys and the Golden Gate Bridge. I’d love to go there for some San Francisco Sightseeing . The hills there look awesome, I don’t know if I’d want to drive on them, but I would definitely love to get some pictures of the hills and the houses that are on them. One of the things I’d do there would be sailing. Apparently San Francisco is a big sailing city, and I would love to be on a boat sailing and possibly even fishing.

Yes I’d love to visit San Francisco, especially around Chinese New York. Did you know that most of the videos you see of the dragon in the Chinese New Year Parade are actually from the San Francisco celebration? I’ve never been to any Chinese New Year, but it does look like a good time. Now I am in no way Chinese, but I would definitely love to partake in the festivities. What celebration would you love to partake in and why?

GTA IV Delayed

Grand Theft Auto IV has been delayed until Spring 2008. Believe it or not, I was expecting this. Why? Well they announced it at E3 2006 with no trailer and the official trailer was released only a few weeks ago. It didn’t really seem possible that they were working on it long enough that the trailer would only come out when it did, if they were nearly finished with the game.

So that is one game down that I won’t be buying in 2007, but I would love it if Assassin’s Creed stayed on track. I don’t know what it is about that game, but I am definitely liking the way it looks.

Metroid Prime 3 is set to hit later this month, hopefully my Wii gets here by then, there isn’t any new updates on where my Wii is, hopefully it is still on time and will get here next week.

The Kids Aren’t All Right

I keep seeing those commercials for debt consolidation, and it made me realize why there are so many commercials for it. The credit card companies target college students. Most college students are poor, so any extra money will help them out, so a credit card seems like just the thing to help them have fun, without having to work extra hours. For those of you who think I don’t know what I am talking about, how many times are credit card representatives on college campuses offering free gifts to sign up for credit cards? I will admit, I got mine from a Six Flags, and not from a college campus, but they were there. I just already had a $2500 credit card bill when I went to college, that’s why I was weary of them.

Banks are way too easy at giving away money to college students. I am not just talking about the loans they give you to help you pay for college, I am talking about they will give you a credit card on a student account so you also use all the money in your checking account, and then owe your own bank money. About the only type of loan a college student can’t get is secured personal loans and that is mainly because they don’t have the collateral to put up to get the loan.

One Less Computer

I took out the motherboard from Krissy’s computer and put in one of mine. I threw out the case my motherboard was in. I am now one computer less, and now I need to figure out what to do with the remaining two computers. One will be a server, but I do not know when. I am going to try hosting files on it once it is uop and running, maybe a testing server for running a Linux distro. I don’t know much about Linux, but what I can learn as I go.

Transmissions Are Expensive

I have been through three cars since I have been 18 years old. My first car, a Honda Civic, had 75,000 miles on the odometer, but it was clear to a mechanic that the miles had been rolled back. I was burning oil in that car and soon after it was dead. My second car, a Subaru Legacy, had 300,000 miles on it and the transmission went. I couldn’t go in revers, so I had to either push it backwards, or park it head on. I didn’t want to spend money on used transmission because the car had so many miles on it, so I decided to buy the car I have now, a Chevy Beretta.

I have had my Chevy Beretta for over two years, I have taken numerous trips in it, from Delaware to Ohio, to New York and back again. The car does have its problems, but the main reason I bought it was because a new transmission was put in it a month before, so I figured the transmission should last me a while. I think I need to give it an oil change, but that isn’t too bad, it’s a good car and it should hopfuilly last me a while longer.

Iced Tea

Is there any other drink that is so good on a hot summer day than a nice tall glass of iced tea? I don’t know why, especially when I do not like cold drinks, normally, but iced tea is always good. Lemonade is almost as good, but iced tea beats it hands down. Maybe later I’ll add some rum to the mix and have some good old fashioned alcoholic iced tea. What are all of your favorite summer drinks if it isn’t iced tea?

SEO

As someone who has taken to building my site up and getting it to be looked at as more than just a blog on the web, I know how important it is for me to have content. That is why I put so much emphasis on other things that aren’t blog related. Having more content than just a blog will also help with search engines.

Most of my incoming links aren’t from personal bloggers, but from other sites who use my tutorials and scripts. The more fresh content you have, the more people who link your site, the more people link your site, the higher link popularity you have.

If you aren’t keen on having content, and just want a blog, but still want a good search engine ranking, then you might want to try link building. With link building you go around and comment on as many sites as possible, and get your site linked on as many sites as possible. The more links coming in, the better it is for your website.

Our own Little Worlds

It is strange, but do you know that you are most likely unaware of the world outside your comfort zone? I grew up in a white straight neighborhood. When a Korean family moved in it seemed like a big uproar, and when a black family moved in, that was the end of the neighborhood as we knew it according to people back then. It isn’t that people in the neighborhood were racist persay, but they lived in a white neighborhood, and when people who looked different moved in, they were moving into an already established comfort zone of people. People don’t just do it with race though.

A few years ago, unless a guy acted feminine, or or a woman was very butch looking, I would assume that they were straight. My cousin is a butch kind of lesbian, so maybe that is where I different and think that way, but now I live in a primarily gay town so it is harder to tell than just the black and white perceptions of people.

We do this, not with people, but with fictional characters as well. Being white, I was brought up to believe that Santa Clause was also Caucasian. But if you are black, maybe you had an African American Santa Clause. Even the differences between the sexes is apparent. How many times do women refer to god as she, while men refer to god as him?

Take a step outside your comfort zone, look around at the world, take a drive through harlem, see how the other half live. You might be surprised with yourself.

I want to go to Hawaii, Yay

I’ve talked before about how my grandmother loved Hawaii, and always told me that I would love it there. She went two or three times before she died, but I have never been there and neither has Krissy. Krissy and I have been discussing future trips and we decided to take the woman’s advice and take a few trips to Hawaii, once we have everything settled and are doing all right financially. I’d love to see the volcanic eruptions, while Krissy wants to see sunrise and sunset over the ocean in one day. I think that would be pretty cool too. When we are actually ready to make plans, before going to a travel agent, we’ll probably look up Hawaii vacation reviews to make sure we are going to the right islands during the right time of year. It would suck to go and find out nothing was on one island, when a big party was going on on another island.
