LAN Tables

So while we will be staying here for a while longe, I need to come up with some better storage solutions, especially in the office. I have been thinking a lot about it, at first I thought more shelves, but that would just look bad. Then I thought about some Sterilite Containers, but we already have a bit too many of those. I have even thought about getting rid of the desks and using computer carts, but I love my desk and I know Krissy loves hers too much to give it up. I think the best solution so far might be getting LAN Racks.

With LAN Racks I could customize how I want everything to look and be set up as. I could get it as big or as thin as I want. Plus the advantage with the LAN Racks would be that they are on wheels and have shelves attached, so I could move the entire thing without much effort if I needed to. Plus the shelves could store any peripherals like a printer or a fax machine.

Got a Camcorder

While we were in Walmart tonight I picked up a JVC mini DV camcorder. This purchase, along with my 500 gigabyte hard drive that should be here within the next few days should really piece together the next big thing for Lep’s Lair. Now if you are sitting there thinking that I have everything planned out with what I want the next big thing to be then stop, that isn’t the case at all. The truth is I have a lot of little projects, the main one being the Spiderman 3 synopsis and pictures to get done first, but after that I am kind of stumped. I guess we will have to see what happens after the camcorder is charged and the hard drive is installed.

The Mist

They close a lot of things in Delaware for dumb reasons. One time I had a delayed opening in college due to fog. I got there on time because I didn’t think that they would delay it on a nice beautiful spring day, but they did. I was so mad at the school and the fact that if these people had to drive in the snow I had to drive in to go to school up in New Jersey, they would probably die, that I decided to blow off class and just go home.

It isn’t like the fog was as bad as it is in The Mist by Stephen King. It wasn’t so bad that I needed to stop and wait it out, like they do in The Mist. The Mist looks interesting, it is actually how I always thought my poem "The Dark Cloud" would play out if it ever went on screen, or if I ever expanded it into a full blown story. It isn’t like I copied it or anything, I don’t even think I heard about the short story until now. If you want to see what I am talking about, then visit The Mist movie site and check out the movie trailer.

Should I Stay or Should I Go?

My friend from Ohio’s father went into remission a few weeks ago so he is moving down to Florida where his stepmother and father live. I’ve known them my whole life, I was never close to them, but it is still weird when someone you know goes back into remission. Despite him moving, he still wants me to go to Ohio and visit him before he moves down to Florida. I would, but I don’t know about going out there in the next few days. I guess I just need to figure out if I want to take the trip out there, suck up my disappointment with the whole thing and make him feel better.Normally I would, but at this point in time with finding everything out last night, I just don’t know if I can. Besides he is leaving in a week or two so he needs to pack and everything.

They have it Rough

I have been a tutor and I have been tutored. I used to give teachers and tutors a hard times when I was younger. Now that I have been a tutor, I want to call up each and every tutor and teacher I have had and apologize. I was especially mean to the Math Tutors and teachers. I think it was just the fact that I was so frustrated with everything, but if I could go back and change things I would. They have it rough. Between people who just don’t get it and those who just don’t get it, give up, and get so far behind that it seems almost impossible to catch up.

Picked Up Spiderman 3

I did pick up the two disk special edition Spiderman 3 early this morning when we went to Walmart. I also watched the movie today. Now all I have to do is write up a summary of it and take some screen shots. I am half tempted to take any shot of Venom and add in a tongue, I mean afterall that is what makes Venom, Venom.

Sometimes It’s Hard

When I was in Delaware tech I was a tutor. It wasn’t anything hard for me really, it was just English and reading. Like all the Reading Tutors you had to have an A in the college English and if you had to take any remedial reading courses then you needed an A in that as well. I think I helped some people, while I just confused everyone else because what they were learning wasn’t what I was taught at all. I tried my best to go along with what the instructor was teaching, though. Som,etimes it is just hard because they are stuck on something a few weeks back and then you need to get them caught up again. Sometimes being a tutor is hard.

Not Moving

The complex was apparently sold to someone else and no one can get in touch with their the seller or the buyer, so we aren’t moving. I wish they would have told us this information earlier so then we wouldn’t have made plans to do this and get the loan and everything. It looks like we will be staying where we are until after January, it sucks, but we’ll deal somehow.

Tech Bargains

There are two things in this world that I love, bargains and technology. When I found a website that specialized in tech bargains, I was very excited. We were planning on giving some big electronic gifts this year, so any bargains that we can get for them will be good. Plus if I happen to buy some stuff for myself, I can do so without feeling extremely guilty. I think my first purchase for myself would be a second monitor, my current second monitor is still a CRT and I would like to upgrade to an LCD sometime soon. The second purchase would be an LCD high definition television. I mean what better way to play Halo, or any other video game?

The gifts I can’t reveal yet because who knows who is reading this right now? I can say that tech bargains will most likely play a big role in my holiday shopping this year. I am going to keep that site bookmarked so that I can go there every time that I am buying something technology related, I mean right now it is only a television and a monitor, but down the line I might buy a new computer keyboard, and a camcorder, plus who knows what else?

Programming Oddities 1: Disabling a Submit Button

I am going to try something new. I am a programmer, and I like to people out as much as I can. When I found a problem today, I thought I wonder if anyone else has has this problem, and when I Googled it, nothing came up. I am not going to star blogging about things that I have found and that should work but doesn’t.

In this issue of Programming Oddities I am going to be discussing disabling a submit button through way of Javascript and the effect that has on PHP. First why would I disable a submit button? Simple, I didn’t want people to click it again after the initial click. The problem with that is when it went from the page with the form to the response page, the submit button wasn’t being read with an isset PHP function.

The reason that I am guessing this is happening is that when it goes to disabled, it is, the browser is seeing it as not being part of the form, hence when it is sent to PHP, it isn’t there. The solution that I did for this, and you are welcome to post your own responses is that I made a hidden element and called it something futile and unique. This way if it goes to that page and sees that this post data is set then it will continue on.

You could have done it anyway, seeing if an already existing element was there, but I did it this way because depending on the variables set it would have different elements each time, and only the submit button would be constant across all the these forms, so I had to make something else that was a constant.

Destination Weddings

The talk of weddings and marriage have been coming up a lot. It is probably due to the fact that we know a couple people who are going to be getting married soon, or have just recently gotten married. We know this one girl who is having this big elaborate wedding with like 200 people there and is then planning two all inclusive honeymoons, one with her parents and his parents and then one just by themselves. I don’t know why they would take their parents on their honeymoon, I mean it is a nice gesture and all, but they could easily save some money and only go on one honeymoon.

The girl in that wedding wanted Krissy to be in that wedding. Krissy turned it down because she doesn’t even want to go to it, but when she was asked, it was being planned as if it would be in Jamaica. I think destination weddings are all right, but again you have a wedding, your family and friends need to fly to go there, I mean sure it would be a very nice wedding, with a beautiful backdrop, but for me a nice wedding is your family and some close friends and that is it.

Not Feeling Well

I am not really feeling well, it probably has something to do with Bella stealing the blanket last night, so I am going to be spending most of the day resting and maybe playing some Halo. I also might sit down and do the Spiderman 3 section today, but that I am not sure about. I am not really motivated to do it just yet, I have to go out and get the 2 disk special edition, I think, because I don’t like the features the one disk has.
