Leprakhauns Word Count Wordpress Plugin Thursday, July 5th, 2007 at 7:42 pm

Attention Wordpress 2.5 Users

Thanks to Michael, there is now a version of the Leprakhauns Word Count Wordpress Plugin, you can get it here. It is the same plugin, it just adds it to the sidebar and adds functionality to be used with pages as well.

[Edit] 11/8/2007 I am happy to announce that it works in Wordpress 2.3.1.[/Edit]

[Edit] 7/18/2007 I have updated it so that it will work whether or not you are in the visual editor.[/Edit]

[Edit]There’s an updated version up now. It should work on most if not all versions of Wordpress 2.0. Sorry if it didn’t work before.[/Edit]

I created aWordpress plugin that will allow you to write a post and hit calculate and it will tell you how many words you’ve written. It only works in the visual editor, though. I created it because every other word count script I could find was having you save, or post your entry before telling you how many words. Mine will tell you without reloading the page. All you do is upload it to your wp-content/plugins folder.

  7. Was looking for this type of plugin. Unfortunately this only works in visual editor which I don’t use. Hopefully you can make it also compatible with the normal editor. :)

  10. Good news! I downloaded the file again, deactivated and deleted the old one and activated the new one and now it works! Thanks! :)

    I really need this plugin and have been looking for one in a long time. I’ll feature this plugin in my WP Plugin Reviews within this week.

  37. Any clues why the activation of the plugin results in “Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”

    I can get it to work on my local apache installation but not on the public webbserver. Both installations uses wordpress 2.2.2

    A suggestion though…

    When you go into the Plugins menu in your WP-Admin, can you make the link that shows up under the column labeled “Plugin” link to this specific page? That would make it much easier to find this particular page in the future! Thanks!
