So in light of the new GTA game, comes my thoughts on more thoughts of violence in video games. I love how if something violent happens the video game industry immediately goes under fire. When Colombine happened, Doom was targeted as the reason and parents went after Doom. My question is what about the parents? Why are the parents able to walk away with no responsibility? Or how about the concept of blaming to those who did it, not finding a scapegoat.

I’ve driven down the street, I’ve had the urge to steal a cop car or to shoot the president. Are you to tell me that I could blame it on video games and then all the blame could be taken off me? It is a proven fact that between 1993 and 1996 the sale of violent video games were the highest in history, but the violence that occured in youth was actually down from previous years. How about we blame the images seen on the news and the fact that this world is going to hell due to the fact that people are using far too many scapegoats.

There is a video game holiday coming up in January known as Wintereenmas I encourage everyone who reads this to go out and play a game see if it alters the way you think, act and/or feel.
