nWay

nWay is an American video game developer and publisher based in San Francisco, California, founded in 2011 by Taehoon Kim. The studio specializes in multiplayer fighting games, with a particular focus on licensed properties. Their best-known title is Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid, a cross-play fighting game that launched in 2019 and expanded significantly through DLC crossovers with other fighting game franchises.

Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid

Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid released in March 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, co-published with Lionsgate Games and Limited Run Games. The game is a three-versus-three tag team fighter built around the Power Rangers license and designed with cross-platform play from launch. It received positive reviews for its accessibility and solid mechanics at a budget price point, and nWay supported it extensively with DLC characters drawn from the broader Power Rangers history as well as crossover characters from other franchises including Ryu from Street Fighter, the Ultraman Tiga suit, and characters from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie. A collector’s edition physical release from Limited Run Games expanded its reach beyond digital storefronts.

Other Projects

Before Battle for the Grid, nWay released ChronoBlade in 2017, an action brawler that launched on Facebook Gameroom and later mobile platforms. The studio has also explored blockchain-based gaming through separate initiatives, though their primary focus has remained on licensed fighting games.
