With 2025 just around the corner, I thought it was the perfect time to list my most anticipated games for the new year. These are presented in no particular order and of course these all might not release in 2025, but as of right now that is the projected release year.
Fable
Fable coming back has been long awaited. Playground Games making it now has the game looking great. Based on what we’ve seen so far the humor from the other games is back as well. I loved the first game and the second game was amazing and just built on everything that the first one setup. Plus they added a dog, which made it 100 times better. I can’t wait to see what this new game has in store.
Ark 2
Ark 2 is supposed to have a storyline, which will be much different from the first game. The first game was all about taming and training animals and building, with bits of lore here and there. A story based sequel could be exactly what the franchise needs.
Borderlands 4
Even though Borderlands 3 didn’t hit the same way that the second game did, Borderlands 4 has the opportunity to get the game back on track to what made the second one so iconic. Hopefully the villain is as iconic as Handsome Jack was.
Death Stranding 2: The Beach
Hideo Kojima’s first game was different to say the least. It was a beautiful game with lots of twists that I did not see coming. For a game that was mostly delivering packages, it was a lot of fun. I can’t wait to see what the second game has in store. I also wonder if it will be coming to Xbox day one since the first game released to the system recently.
Doom: The Dark Ages
Doom in the dark ages with old school weapons? That sounds great to me!
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra
This game looks great. Captain America and Black Panther in 1943? Yes please! It’s been a few years since Spider-Man 2 came out, so it is the perfect time for a new Marvel game, especially since Wolverine is rumored to be released in 2026.
Splitgate 2
Halo meets Portal with a kill confirmed mode where you need to t-bag the enemy? Yes please! The second game is setup to be more of a faction 4v4 game, so while it may be different, it should be fun!
GTA 6
I think Grand Theft Auto 6 is on everyone’s list for 2025 and if I am being honest, I don’t think this game will release next year. There’s been rumors of it being delayed and we’ve only gotten one trailer for it. It’s been a long time since GTA 5 came out and I am ready to cause trouble in a new GTA!
