The 2024 Game Awards are tomorrow. While the primary focus is an award show, there are also announcements and trailers shown there. So far two trailers have been confirmed for the show, Borderlands 4 and Mafia: The Old Country. Now I enjoyed Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 3 was fun with a friend, but the villains lacked something that Handsome Jack had. I’m not sure what it is, but I liked him more. There was a tease of him in the announcement trailer back in June, so maybe we will get some answers about what that is. I have not played the Mafia games yet, but we’ve been binging the Sopranos lately and it makes me want to check out that series. Maybe I will start it soon, I think I picked up all three, I know for sure I have the Mafia 1 remake, plus it’s on Xbox Game Pass.
One rumor that’s been circulating lately is the Black Myth Wukon will be announced for Xbox, if not shadow drop on the console during the show. Last year Baldur’s Gate 3 shadow dropped on the system right after winning Game of the Year. Black Myth Wukon was initially announced for Xbox, but then silently removed due to Sony paying for limited console exclusivity to the game. While we don’t know how long the exclusivity is, the Xbox version did get an ESRB rating back in October, so it’s possible that the deal is over soon.
