Stray is an adventure game developed by BlueTwelve Studios. It was published by Annapurna Interactive. The game was released on July 19, 2022 for Playstation 4, PS5, and PC. On launch, the game was available for Playstation Plus’ Extra, Deluxe, and Premium tiers.
While running along and playing with its cat family, one falls down a hole and gets separated. The cat, now without anyway to get reunited with its family, finds a lab. In the lab, it helps download artificial intelligence into a drone. The drone calls itself B-12 and a lot of its memory appears to be corrupted. What it does remember is that it helped a scientist in the past. When you explore and see things, the AI remembers its past.
The pair travel together to a city where there’s no humans, it’s all robots. The robots known as Companions, live as though humans would and have built their own society among the ruins of a city. They are trapped in this city because of mutated bacteria known as Zurks. Zurks were created to eat up garbage, but will eat anything that comes in their path.

They find out about a group of Companions who were dedicated to finding a way out of the city. This group, known as the Outsiders consisted of Momo, Clementine, Doc, and Zbaltazar. They first meet Momo, who seems distraught that the others are gone. When he finds out that they may still be alive, Momo helps the pair get Doc’s son to help them find his father. Doc (who was clearly a homage to Doc Brown from Back to the Future) has been stuck after his weapon to kill the Zurks lost power and had no way to repower it.
With the cat and B-12’s help, the weapon was charged and eventually attached to B-12 to help destroy Zurks along the way. With Doc back and the weapon ready to go, B-12, the cat and Momo set out to reunite with the other two. Eventually Momo realizes he cannot continue and wishes the pair luck as he stays behind.
They find Zbaltazar at Antvillage who had decided to stay there and continue his meditation, but says that Clementine is still in the Upper Level. When the pair finally find Clementine, they are arrested and thrown in prison. They escape, but only when Clementine stays behind to distract the Sentinels, while the cat and B-12 forge on ahead to the control room.
Upon arriving, B-12 has all his memories come back. He was a human who tried to upload his conscience to a robot body, but something went wrong and he was trapped until being downloaded into the drone.The city was built to shelter humanity from a catastrophe on the earth’s surface, but eventually a plague wiped everyone out. With B-12 realizing that he and now the cat are the only ones who know the real story, he sacrifices himself to open the blast doors and allow sunlight in for the first time in years. The sunlight deactivates the Sentinels and kills the Zurks on contact.
With the exit now open, the cat leaves the city and reaches the surface. As it leaves, a screen flickers and turns on.
