Alice: Madness Returns is an action adventure game developed by Spicy Horse. It was published by Electronic Arts for Windows, Xbox 360, and PS3 on June 14, 2011. It's a sequel to American McGee's Alice. The original game, American McGee's Alice was also released as DLC for this game. It was the only way to play it on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Alice: Madness Returns is a third-person action-adventure game that blends hack-and-slash combat, precision platforming, environmental puzzle solving, and psychological-horror exploration. The gameplay is built around Alice's ability to move between the grim reality of Victorian London and the twisted, corrupted Wonderland shaped by her trauma. Each chapter introduces new mechanics, enemies, and visual themes, creating a constantly shifting gameplay rhythm.

Alice: Madness Returns Story
Alice Liddell, now living in Victorian London after release from Rutledge Asylum, continues to suffer from trauma, hallucinations, and survivor's guilt stemming from the fire that killed her family. She lives under the care of Dr. Angus Bumby, a psychiatrist who claims to help her recover but whose intentions become increasingly suspicious.

As her mental state deteriorates, Alice is pulled back into Wonderland, which has once again become corrupted, this time by a monstrous force known as the Infernal Train. Wonderland's decay mirrors Alice's unraveling psyche, and each region she travels through reflects pieces of her repressed memories and emotional wounds.

While Alice goes through her memories, she yearns to find out what really happened the night her family died. As she starts to piece the puzzle together, she realizes that the corruption in Wonderland is directly in correlation with a threat in the real world, Dr. Bumby.

Dr. Bumby has been not only suppressing and exploiting Alice's memories, he's been doing it to all of the children in his care. Once Alice defeats the Infernal Train, it restores her memories and she's able to confront Bumby and expose his crimes.

Is Alice: Madness Returns on PS4/PS5?
No, PlayStation 4 and 5 cannot run the game natively. It's playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S through backward compatibility, which is how I played the game, but since Sony does not offer PS3 backward compatibility on later consoles, it won't be playable there.
