Quicktequila

Quicktequila is the studio name of Vidhvat Madan, an independent developer best known for building fast, hypnotic first-person shooters around what he calls a flow state. Working largely solo, Madan has spent over a decade on a specific idea, stripping shooters down to movement, rhythm, and focus rather than loadouts and progression. That approach runs from his breakout Lovely Planet series through to Tamashika, his 2026 collaboration with Harmony Korine's studio EDGLRD.

Lovely Planet

Madan first drew attention with Lovely Planet, a psychedelic speedrunning first-person shooter published by tinyBuild in 2014. Behind its bright, cartoonish surface was a punishing, precision-based shooter about clearing levels as fast and cleanly as possible, and it became a cult favorite for exactly that contrast. The series expanded with follow-up entries that pushed the same speed-and-accuracy design, cementing Madan as a name in the niche of movement-driven arcade shooters.

Tamashika

Tamashika, released April 10, 2026, is Quicktequila's most ambitious work and the first video game ever published by EDGLRD, the Miami creative studio founded by filmmaker Harmony Korine. It casts the player as a rogue spirit armed with only a semi-automatic pistol and a tanto blade, blinking, parrying, and shooting through a daily procedurally generated labyrinth built around hand-drawn animation and a deliberate push toward flow. Madan has described it as a multi-year, multi-country project, developed across seven countries over three years. It launched to Very Positive reviews on Steam and later came to Xbox Game Pass alongside a major content update that added a new Accelerate Mode.

The Quicktequila Style

The thread connecting Quicktequila's games is a refusal to complicate. No build variety, no loadout swapping, no filler between the player and the act of moving through a level cleanly. Lovely Planet framed that as bright, deceptively cheerful speedrunning, while Tamashika reframes it as a psychedelic trance, but both are the same design philosophy: reduce the shooter to concentration and rhythm, then ask the player to master it. That consistency across more than ten years is what makes Quicktequila stand out among solo developers working in the arcade FPS space.
