Spyro: A Realm Beyond is an upcoming platformer developed by Toys for Bob and published by Activision. It was announced at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7, 2026 and is set to release in Spring 2027. The game releases on Xbox Series X/S, Windows, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. It is the first entirely original Spyro game in nearly two decades and will be available on Xbox Game Pass and as an Xbox Play Anywhere title on day one.
The game follows Spyro after he finds himself stranded in an unfamiliar realm. His journey home is interrupted by an invading force called the Scavs, and he must make new allies and protect the realm before it is changed forever. Tom Kenny, the original voice actor for Spyro, returns for the game. The biggest new feature is true dragon flight, which allows players to take to the air freely at any time rather than being limited to gliding or specific flight levels as in previous games.

Toys for Bob previously developed the Spyro Reignited Trilogy in 2018 and Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time in 2020 before being folded into Call of Duty support work under Activision Blizzard. The studio regained its independence from Activision in 2024 but continued working with them as a publishing partner on A Realm Beyond. The game represents the studio returning to the franchise it is most associated with after years away from original platformer development.
