Clockwork Revolution is a first person action RPG developed by inXile Entertainment and published by Xbox Game Studios. The game was first announced at the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2023 and received a 2027 release window at the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2026. It releases on Xbox Series X/S and PC as an Xbox console exclusive and will be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one.
The game is set in Avalon, a steampunk city powered by steam and industry where wealthy industrialists replace their limbs with clockwork prosthetics and mechanical servants carry out their orders. The player takes on the role of Morgan Vanette, a customizable character whose appearance, skills, and choices shape who they become throughout the game. Early in the story Morgan comes across the Chronometer, a device that allows travel to the past. The villain Lady Ironwood has been using her own time travel abilities to maintain her grip on power over Avalon, reshaping history to keep herself in control. Morgan is accompanied by Prentice, a flying automaton companion who has her own skill tree and abilities.
Clockwork Revolution Gameplay
Clockwork Revolution features time travel as its central mechanic. Players can travel back to key moments in Avalon’s history and make choices that create butterfly effects throughout the world, changing characters and events in ways that ripple forward into the present. The game features deep RPG systems, character customization, and branching narrative reactivity. inXile describes it as a game where the world reacts deeply to every choice made. The project is led by game director Chad Moore and principal designer Jason Anderson, who previously created Arcanum, one of the most acclaimed steampunk RPGs ever made.
