House of Lies Season 2 is better than the first

PROS

  • Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell are at their best this season. Their scenes together have a tension and chemistry that Season 1 only hinted at, and when they collide the show earns every minute of it.

  • The writing is sharper and more confident. The pacing is tighter, the jokes land harder, and the consulting world absurdity feels more purposeful than ever.

CONS

  • The tone whiplashes at times. Jumping from emotional breakdowns to cartoonish comedy in the same scene is part of the show's DNA, but Season 2 pushes that contrast a little too far in places.
  • Some subplots feel underwritten. Clyde and Doug are fun, but their arcs occasionally feel like filler. Whenever the show steps away from Marty or Jeannie the momentum drops.
