Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

On his 13th birthday, Peter Quill’s mother gives him a special gift left by his father. His mother always told him that Peter’s father was an alien, but Peter was never so sure until he opened that gift and it was Element Guns. When the Chitauri came to collect Peter, he put up a fight with his newly acquired weapons, but it was no use, there were too many of them. After killing his mother, the Chitauri kidnap Peter and leave Earth.

Years later, Peter leads a team known as the Guardians of the Galaxy. On the team are Groot, Rocket, Gamora, and Drax. The team are looking for a monster to bring back to Lady Hellbender, when Peter finds a mysterious gem, while he held it, it burned him and let out a mysterious creature. The Guardians flee, but are soon captured by Nova Corps.

Nova Corps

Nova Corps is the intergalactic military and police force. Their job is to keep peace in the galaxy. Because the Guardians were in a forbidden zone looking for a monster, they were arrested. While being processed, Peter meets Nikki, Peter’s former lover’s daughter who is about the same age as when he and her mother were together. This leads him to believe that she might be his daughter. Before Peter can find out if she’s his or not, they are dismissed with a fine.

Being unable to pay the fine, the Guardians decide to return to Lady Hellbender with one of their own as the present, either Rocket or Groot. The plan goes awry so the Guardians flee to a Nova Corps outpost. There they encounter changed officers who insist that they must spread the Promise. They flee the station and head to Knowhere.

Knowhere

Knowhere is built on a decaptitated Celestial head. Peter is trying to get to Cosmo to find out what is going on with the Nova Corps, but is instead captured by Cosmo. Peter makes a deal with him to go investigate Hala’s Hope, a Nova Corps patrol ship, which is transmitting a strange signal.

Upon getting to the ship, they find it siphoning Faith Energy from a close planet. They are captured by Grand Unifier Raker of the Universal Church of Truth who takes them to meet the Matriarch of the church. Nikki has that mysterious gem that Peter found and offers them the Promise, which traps them in illusions crafted by their deepest desires. Eventually the Guardians break free of their illusions.

Adam Warlock

With no where else to go, the Guardians call upon the Worldmind, a super computer made up of the intelligence of deceased Nova Corps members. It concludes that it is useless to fight as they will lose without Adam Warlock, who’s been dead for years. Mantis, a being that can see multiple futures, bring the team to Adam who is very much alive. Drax, who has succumbed to the Promise, is saved when Adam, Mantis, and the team go into his mind to bring him out of it. Adam informs the team that Nikki is infected with his dark side, Magus, who he trapped in the Soul Stone- that gem Peter found.

The team, having no other options, travel to take down Fing Fang Foom to bring to Lady Hellbender in hopes that she help them take down the Church. She agrees and they bring the fight to Nova Corps. They are captured and imprisoned in an illusion, but with the help of Nikki’s mom who’s soul is attached to the stone, Peter is able to break free and finally learns the truth, that she was a war orphan and not his daughter. They kill Raker while Adam absorbs Magus and Nikki unlocks hidden powers. The galaxy celebrates being free while the Guardians leave with Nikki becoming the sixth team member.

Magus takes over Adam’s body, but is soon sent back into the Soul Stone. Adam decides to keep watch over the stone while the Guardians go off to print new business cards.
