SEO is Hard

I’ve been trying to get better SEO going on my site. When I added the games section I thought for sure it would be a big boost, but it seems that Google keeps finding and crawling the pages, but not actually indexing them. I’ve been in meetings with SEO companies and even though a lot of things were discussed through these months of meetings, crawling, but not indexing was never brought up. I have Yoast SEO installed and have been going through SEMRush, with no idea what is wrong. My best guess is that there’s a lot of thin content, meaning that the content that I have isn’t enough meat to it. Some of it is years old at this point though. The new stuff, though, that’s where my main concern is. Stuff like the games section, where I make the pictures and write the summaries and eventually will be including Youtube, clips, etc from my playthroughs itself. That is my biggest concern right now.

Over the next few weeks I will be going and modifying things and resubmitting URLs in the hope that I can bring the non-indexed pages down dramatically. It looks like when I tell Google to reconsider, they get indexed. That may seem like a pretty straightforward solution and it may very well be if it was a handful, but this is thousands of URLs. As far as I can tell, there is no easy way to submit them all for reconsideration, so doing it manually, piece by piece seems to be the only way to do it.

What this means going forward

With my focus more on SEO, you can expect more writings from me. I suppose with me writing the games stuff a lot lately, I’ve already been writing more. I am wanting to do more than just the games though, I want to do reviews and more articles and even more writing out things for TikTok and Youtube. I’ve been saying how if I am going to do reviews I need to at least finish up the games stuff, I’ve even held off starting new games and storylines until I can at least complete the Resident Evil Series, but my goal is to finish Revelations and Revelations 2 this weekend. I was planning on writing Revelations article tonight, however I started getting frustrated with the SEO stuff and seeing that it might be due to “thin content” so here we are. What does all this mean exactly? I am not entirely sure. If my brain allows (damn ADHD with executive dysfunction) it means that my content on here will be much fuller while also branching out and doing more elsewhere. If it doesn’t, well then nothing will change and it will be months or even years until my next update. Maybe I should just post this stuff on stream, do a whole writing stream, that would be different and possibly keep me focused. I’ve mainly just streamed playing games, but streaming writing about them, since I love writing, could be a whole new thing for me. It’s certainly something to ponder about.

Two Point Campus Announcement at E3?

It’s been a few years since we first saw Two Point Hospital at E3’s PC Gaming Show, but now it looks like their team could be showing the next game in the Two Point series: Two Point Campus. The listing for Two Point Campus popped up on the Windows Store with the promise of building the university your way. The listing says “Build the university of your dreams with Two Point Campus, the follow up management sim with a twist from the creators of Two Point Hospital. Get to know your students, explore their personalities and fulfill their wants and needs. Craft buildings, choose courses, hire the best staff and build an academic institution to stand the test of time.” While the description says “Build your university, your way!

It’s time to spin academia on its head! Got a yearning for learning? Or just keen to build an educational masterpiece? Campus is jam-packed with new creative tools to help you build the university of your dreams.

For the first time, build in the great outdoors as you develop your own delightfully educational campus environment, housing the top teaching facilities in the land. Whether you prefer building on simple foundations, or placing every tree, you can build the university you want.

Lay down pathways with new easy-to-use tools. Plant glorious collections of outdoor flora. Place benches, fountains, sculptures, hedgerows – even picket fences. The only limit is your imagination (and your in-game bank balance).

Not the usual fare

But, of course, it wouldn’t be a Two Point game without a twist.

Rather than typical academic fare, students in Two Point County enjoy a range of wild and wonderful courses: from Knight School (hey, we all have to learn jousting at some point in our lives), to the salivatory Gastronomy, where your students will build mouth-watering concoctions like giant pizzas and enormous pies.

The academic year… is here!

Take advantage of the opportunity to spend way more time with the little people in your university. The academic year begins with a summer break, giving you enough time to get everything looking great before your students move in.

Build libraries, hire the best staff (from eccentric professors to madcap researchers), kit your campus out with the best courses and watch the academic potential of your students get unlocked!

Shaping the future

But it’s not just work hard. Get to know your students, explore their individual personalities, wants and needs. Keep them happy with clubs, societies, gigs.

Surround them with friends, help them develop relationships, furnish them with pastoral care and ensure they have the right amount of joie de vivre to develop into incredible individuals who will do the legacy of your university proud.”

So will we be seeing this game at the PC Game Show? Probably, but it is also possible since the listing says it will be available on Xbox Series S, X, and Xbox One, that we could be seeing it at the Microsoft/Bethesda press conference as well. We will find out in a few weeks during E3.

This game is going to be a blast!

If Two Point Campus is real then I can't wait to play it!

This game looks amazingly fun!
