So my blog has finally arrived. After months of promising to figure it out and months of studying and trying different thing, it is finally here. Although it isn’t that spectacular, it is something I’ve wanted for a while. I guess you could call me jealous, ever since I saw Meg’s blog (http://digitalreflex), I have thought about putting this one on a site. The only problem I’ve had with it was how to do it in a way to make it easy, and yet still make it mine. I have checked out other sites like Lissy’s (http://silvercpu) and Renee’s (http://sacred.nu), both of which use WordPress, but I didn’t really want that either.
I was a guy who wanted something for years, and still hadn’t found a way to put it on my site. Of course Meg does it the hard way and does everything by hand and then uploads it, but I wanted something a bit easier. Steve (http://ihavenoshame) was in my C++ class and he told me about PHP and how simple it was. I tried a few things with it, but again I didn’t know the syntax or how to manipulate databases enough to really do it properly. People kept asking me why I didn’t just get a Live Journal or blog on my myspace account, my answer was that it just wasn’t the same.
So one day my friend Mike introduced me to some really great music from Comradef and Lucy Doll (http://comradef). The music was great and so was the site. So I asked him how he was able to manipulate his forum to include a blog and he explained to me it was a hack called php fetch all. He helped me a bit when I had questions, and everything is now up and running.
So that’s the story of the blog and why it took a few years and a few different sites to actually implement it. If you miss one, don’t worry they’ll all be kept in the forum, they aren’t going anywhere.
