Good Gate Media

Good Gate Media is a Welsh production company that has become one of the key creative partners behind the modern FMV game revival. Rather than developing games independently, Good Gate specializes in the live-action filming and production side of interactive movies, handling the hiring of cast and crew, executing the shoot, and bringing the cinematic quality that separates contemporary FMV games from the low-budget productions the genre was known for in the 1990s. Their primary partner is Wales Interactive, the Penarth-based developer and publisher that has championed FMV games more than any other studio in the industry.

The relationship between Good Gate Media and Wales Interactive sits at the center of the FMV revival in the UK. Wales Interactive handles the game design, branching narrative structure, and publishing, while Good Gate takes care of the production, bringing the filmmaking expertise the games need to feel cinematic rather than cheap. Together they have built a pipeline for interactive movies that has produced some of the most polished FMV titles in the genre’s modern era.

Games

The FMV games produced with Good Gate Media’s involvement include The Complex, a sci-fi thriller set during a bio-weapon attack in London developed alongside Little Jade Productions and published by Wales Interactive in 2020. Who Pressed Mute on Uncle Marcus, an FMV murder mystery co-developed with Wales Interactive, followed. Bloodshore, an interactive action movie about a televised battle royale, was developed with Wales Interactive, Wayout Pictures, and Posterity Entertainment in 2021. Good Gate has also worked with Wales Interactive on Deathtrap Dungeon: The Golden Room and Night Book, both published by Wales Interactive.
