Dee Dee Creations

Dee Dee Creations is an American independent game development studio based in New York, founded by Dan DeEntremont. DeEntremont spent over fifteen years as a professional 3D animator working in film and television before making games his focus. Dee Dee Creations has one released game: Squirrel with a Gun, which began as a viral social media clip in 2022 and became a full commercial release in 2024.

The Origin of Squirrel with a Gun

Squirrel with a Gun did not start as a game concept. DeEntremont was testing character rigging and fur rendering in Unreal Engine 5, experimenting with realistic squirrel grooms, when he created a short clip of the squirrel picking up a gun. He posted it online in August 2022 and it went viral immediately, reaching millions of views across Twitter and other platforms and generating coverage from outlets including IGN. At that point, as DeEntremont put it, they were almost obligated to make a full game out of it. Development officially began shortly after, with DeEntremont handling game design, animation, and programming using Unreal Engine 5’s Blueprint visual scripting system, which allowed rapid prototyping without requiring C++ coding.

Two additional team members joined after the clip went viral. Scott DeEntremont handled level design and music composition, and Kensika Moolnoy-DeEntremont took over marketing and public relations. In November 2023, Dee Dee Creations signed a publishing deal with Maximum Entertainment to handle console ports and marketing, bringing Squirrel with a Gun to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in October 2024. A Nintendo Switch 2 version followed in November 2025.

DeEntremont’s Background

Dan DeEntremont studied at the DAVE School in Orlando, where the curriculum focused on pre-rendered visual effects. His first job was in Hollywood working on film productions, and he spent the following fifteen years in film and television as a 3D artist, including time at Muse VFX. He had attempted game development as a side project for years, first experimenting in Unity trying to replicate Super Mario Galaxy’s movement before switching to Unreal Engine, where the squirrel test that spawned the studio’s only game originated.
