Marvel, Marvel Cinematic Universe
VisionQuest is an upcoming Marvel Television series premiering October 14, 2026 on Disney+, and it hands the show back to Paul Bettany's Vision for the first time since WandaVision. Terry Matalas, the showrunner behind Star Trek: Picard, runs the eight-episode series, which closes out the trilogy that started with WandaVision in 2021 and continued with Agatha All Along in 2024. James Spader also returns as Ultron, the villain he last played in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron. The show arrives weeks ahead of Avengers: Doomsday, so it sits near the front of the MCU's late 2026 slate. Last time we saw White Vision was in WandaVision and I've been wondering where he's been ever since.
When Does VisionQuest Come Out?
VisionQuest premieres on Disney+ on October 14, 2026. Marvel confirmed the date at its 2026 upfronts presentation, and the series runs eight episodes released weekly on Wednesdays through the fall. The show wrapped filming in the summer of 2025, well over a year before Avengers: Doomsday reaches theaters on December 18, 2026, and Marvel has not detailed how much the two connect. Paul Bettany has not been confirmed for the Doomsday cast, so how directly VisionQuest feeds into the film is still an open question.
What Is VisionQuest About?
The show picks up with White Vision, the version resurrected in the WandaVision finale who walked away carrying the original Vision's memories but none of the emotional connection to them. He has been living in hiding, and the series follows his attempt to reconcile who he used to be with what he is now. James Spader's Ultron joins that journey, appearing in both human and android form to help him and to needle him along the way. Matalas has compared Vision's arc to Spock's in Star Trek IV, which points at a story about a synthetic mind trying to reconnect with a lost self. Marvel has kept the full plot locked down, so a lot of the specifics are still under wraps ahead of release.
VisionQuest Cast: Paul Bettany, James Spader, and James D'Arcy
Paul Bettany leads as Vision and James Spader returns as Ultron. James D'Arcy joins as J.A.R.V.I.S., Tony Stark's original AI and a foundational piece of Vision's consciousness, which is a sharp bit of casting since D'Arcy played the human Edwin Jarvis in Agent Carter and Avengers: Endgame. Orla Brady appears as a manifestation of F.R.I.D.A.Y., and Faran Tahir reprises Raza, the Ten Rings leader from 2008's Iron Man. Ruaridh Mollica plays Tommy, Wanda Maximoff's speedster son known as Speed in the comics, though the show has been coy about how his identity actually plays out. The cast also includes Emily Hampshire, Todd Stashwick as Paladin, Diane Morgan, Henry Lewis, and Jonathan Sayer.
How VisionQuest Connects to WandaVision and Agatha All Along
VisionQuest is the third and final chapter of the loose trilogy that began with WandaVision and ran through Agatha All Along. WandaVision is where White Vision was created and sent off carrying the real Vision's memories, so this show is the direct follow-up to that unresolved thread. It's also the last Marvel TV series of 2026 and one of the final MCU projects before Avengers: Doomsday, which means whatever it does with Vision and Ultron has room to feed into the larger Multiverse Saga. Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda and Joe Locke's Wiccan have not been confirmed to appear, so any Maximoff family reunion is speculation for now.
