Outlast 2 is a first-person psychological horror survival video game developed and published by Red Barrels. It was released on April 25, 2017 for Windows, Xbox One, and Playstation 4. It was then released on Nintendo Switch on March 27, 2018.
Outlast's jump scares usually get me, Outlast 2 didn't disappoint in that regard.
You play as Blake Langermann who along with his wife, survive a helicopter crash while investigating a murder of a pregnant teenager. After he wakes up from the crash, he discovers his wife is missing and the pilot was skinned alive.
Help, he trapped me in the floor
While looking for his wife, he discovers a war going on between a religious cult and heretics. The leader of the cult rapes the women and once pregnant, executes them for carrying the anti-Christ. He eventually finds his wife and discovers she is pregnant, but she is then kidnapped by the heretics.
Throughout the game, you have hallucinations about their childhood friend Jessica who killed herself as a kid. Through these visions, you find out that Jessica was being molested by a priest.
If you stay still, he can't see you.
When he finally finds his wife, she is having a hard time running and is in labor. After dying in childbirth, Blake passes out only to awake with the leader of the cult, Sullivan Knoth standing over him. Knoth tells Blake that his child is already too strong for him to kill and that Blake should do it, he then slits his own throat. Blake goes outside to see all of Knoth’s followers are dead. The sun is growing brighter and Blake is engulfed into it.
In the final scene, Blake hallucinations about being in school and praying with Jessica.
