I rented Crackdown on Friday and a few hours ago I killed the last boss in the game. Now even though the game was short, there are only really two things that I have a problem with.
One of those things is the awkward camera angle. For the most part, you have control over the camera, and setting it to where you need it to be is as easy as moving your thumb. Most of the time if you are in a tight corner, your character will become more transparent and in some instances even get so transparent it appears to be in the first person, even though it is a third person game. In some instances, however, this is not the case and you will be behind a sign and instead of going to the first person, you will see the sign and won’t see your character at all.
My other complaint is the story. The story as it plays out through the game is that the city is controlled by three separate gangs. Each gang has its own territory and the police can’t get control of the city. Once you get to the end however, you discover that while the gangs appear to have been in control, it was actually given to them by a higher up in the police, and that once the citizens have experienced anarchy, they are more than willing to accept complete control. The game ends with your character pointing a gun at the screen and shooting after that is said.
There are a couple of reasons why I passed this game by when it came out. First, I was considering it, but only for the Halo 3 multiplayer beta. Since I got one from Bungie, I didn’t need it, so I decided to not give it a second thought. I saw the trailer for Crackdown 2 during the Microsoft E3 press conference, and I figured why not check it out, so when I saw they had it at Blockbuster the other day, I picked it up. If you’ve never played it, I suggest you pick it up, it is a decent game. Here is the Crackdown 2 trailer:
