Damn Dirty Internet

So my internet was acting up the last few days. I finally got it working and you can see little updates on the menu and the linespacing of the blog. I thought if I could hook the modem up to the main line and use a wireless router it would be better, but after I went out and bought the router, the modem was up again. So today I need to go back and return the router and wireless cards. After I return it I will have money, I’d like to get a sound card, one with a remote the stereo receiver jacks, but it isn’t feasable right now. I’ll need to take the money I get back and put it toward bills. It isn’t that bad, though, because I get paid on Thursday. Maybe I’ll get another movie. I bought Back to the Future trilogy and Meet the Fockers yesterday, which is okay because I haven’t treated myself to anything in a while. I still haven’t given my dad a Father’s Day gift, maybe I’ll pick something up for him.

My grandmother is doing about as good as one can be doing, I suppose. She fell the other day so we brought her to the hospital, but nothing is broken. They gave her pain medicine and shes completely out of it. She thinks we took her dancing and we all got drunk. She also thinks that Oprah is after her money.

A Simpler Kind of Life

I was sitting at work looking at something someone posted on myspace and it got me thinking. Remember when life was so much simpler? When everything was so black and white, good or bad. 2+2 always equaled 4 and nothing could change that. As we grow to understand the world, school became more and more complicated. When things were looking gray, not everything was a whole number. When life was really complicated girls and drugs and such, school threw us problems with more than one answer. As our minds and lives developed, school was there to challenge us in an intellectual way. When did I start to understand algebra? When did I start to use it in an everyday environment? When did time speed up, it was always so slow. I graduated high school more than a year ago. I went to an alternative one and before that a therapeudic one. I don’t remember a single lesson that was taught inside the classroom, I don’t remember a single therapy session. I remember the people, I remember the hard lessons that I learned. You know those lessons, the kind that no one can teach you, but you have to go through on your own, breaking up, friends moving away, following your heart. These lessons don’t end when high school is over, they never end. I believe that up until you die you are constantly learning these lessons, and when you finally do learn everything that this life can teach you, you move onto a different classroom. Everyday you learn something new, take what you learn that day and pass it on to another, so that they may pass it on. If you keep your lessons to yourself, life will be so much more lonely.

[Addon]So I was just reading the news and a minister was convicted of racist crimes from back in the 1960’s. When I was younger the 1960’s were so long ago, racism didn’t exist when I was growing up. The truth is when you’re growing up the only race issues you have is who can run the fastest. When did race become an issue again? Racism is supposed to be long gone in the history books, and yet it still comes back. I wrote an essay a while ago that I am going to keep working on and hopefully get published, it is about racism, and it isn’t like the normal racism is bad kind of thing that is out today, it puts a new spin on things. I’m at a point in my life where everything is so complex. I’m at a crossroads whether or not to move with my mother to Delaware or goto a different state and live on my own. [/Addon]

She’s Back

So my grandmother is scheduled to be moved into rehab tomorrow. She had surgery on Friday and my mom and I had no idea that she was doing it. So we get there and the nurse gives us this attitude saying how we should have been there. My mom flips and says well someone should have called me and on a tangant about how she’s 78 years old and she shouldn’t be allowed to sign papers to which she doesn’t understand. The surgery was a success, though. After the surgery my grandmother was screaming and yelling and just being how she normally is after these surgeries. She’s had three major operations over the last 4 years. She had open heart surgery, with a 90% chance that she wouldn’t make it, she had a hip replacement surgery a few months ago, with a 75% survival chance and a 50% chance she wouldn’t walk again and this hip surgery. Somehow she always pulls out of the surgeries scott free.

I was working on a default avatar for the site, and PSP crashed. Now I need to start over, joy.

Say Hello to Judge Ito for Me

So this morning, well technically Wednesday morning I woke up at 6:30 AM to go to jury duty. I hate waking up early. So jury duty was interesting, I couldn’t serve, as I am impartial to a lot of people, but the case they wanted to put me on was a child molestation case. Having worked in a daycare and having a lot of friends who have been molested, I couldn’t be impartial. It wasn’t all that bad, however, I did meet an interesting girl who lives in my town, with a lot of the same interests as me, writing, debating, etc. I got her number, even though she has a boyfriend, and I’ll call her tomorrow (later today?), just to say hey and to talk.

Back in January my grandmother broke her hip, they had to do a hip replacement, completely putting a new hip in. Tonite (Wednesday night) she fell and broke her other hip. I was at the hospital until really about 3:30AM. I should have just stayed in New Brunswick, I was there earlier for jury duty and then again for the hospital. She’s been at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital so much, I think they should give her a private room, with her name on it, cable television, the works. She’s VIP in that hospital. She’s had to have been there more than 60 times in the past 6 years, so it isn’t like it was anything new. Everytime we go there, there seems to be more and more new construction. I am convinced my grandmother is paying for it, she’s been there so much. Everytime she brakes something, or has congestive heart failure, the hospital gets a new wing.

I will probably be going back to the hospital later (Thursday), after I get some sleep. They want to put her in surgery either tomorrow or Friday, which I don’t have the patience to just wait in the waiting room, I usually wander around, the maternity ward is always filled with cute little babies. Another place in the hospital I love, is the library. I will go there and just go on AIM and talk to people. It isn’t that I don’t have respect for my grandmother or anything like that, that I don’t wait in the waiting room, it is more of the fact that I need to take my mind off things. We all need a little escape in some form or another, my wandering is my escape.

So over the last few days I have been checking out some other interesting things for this forum, I added custom made smilies, and increased the file size and dimensions of the avatars so far, and I think I will be adding a lot more to come. So people (Kelly) have asked what I will be adding, I’ll be adding a default avatar for people who don’t have one, an AIM and Yahoo! online indicator (I hope they works with GAIM), and a lot more content. Sit tight I promise more content.

So it is 4:06AM on Thursday morning, I’ve been up since 6:30AM Wednesday morning, I need sleep. Goodnight America!

I Crave Power

Living in a townhouse, you need to follow rules that are set by the association, like not having air conditioners in windows, not leaving a bike outside, and other things like that. They didn’t like it when I had my air conditioner in my window and threatened me with a fine. So I had to come up with an alternative solution. So I buy a portable air conditioner, but it kept blowing my power out. So right now I have an extension cord going from my living room downstairs up to my bedroom to cool my room off. So up until today, I didn’t have power to my room, so needless to say the new content will not be up yet.

I also have not had a chance to try my tv-tuner card that I got on Friday. This will allow me to record television shows to my computer. I am also trying to find a way to hook up my X-Box and PS2 to it and hopefully it will allow me to play in real time without any delay. My goal is to take out my television center and use that space to fix computers and such. So far I have two Macs under my bed I want to merge together and two PC’s besides this one that I have special plans for. Can’t tell you what yet as I am thinking of adding a section for that, who knows, though.

So I took my car in for the brake job and they said that the reason my brakes were squeaking was because they were a little hot. He checked them though, and said they were fine and didn’t charge me a cent. I need to take my car in a few hundred miles for an oil change. I just had one last month, though, but going all that mileage to Ohio, made me need another oil change so soon. This car seems to be lasting, so I’m hoping it will last me more than a year, unlike my other two cars.

Someone leave some comments please just click on the number of leprakhauns running around sign in and leave a comment I need some.

An Hour Until Freedom

I have just one hour to go until I am free for the weekend. Maybe not free, I think I will be going to my dad’s this weekend and seeing if he has anything for me to do. He wants to dig up his driveway and repave it so I will be helping with the digging up part.

I hate cars, they’re so expensive. I went to Ohio back in May, and before I went I got a brake job. Well now my brakes are squeaking, probably from me using them a lot going through West Virginia. So now I have to go back to my mechanic and see if maybe I can just have them adjusted. If my sister-in-law’s family still had the car parts store, then I could get all the parts at cost and it would be a bit cheaper, oh well.

My mom’s birthday is Sunday too. She has been wanting to go to a really good psychic so I told her I’d pay for half, so I am giving her $100.00 to go to one. I also owe her money for my bills, which I have another one that’s due tomorrow. Credit cards are evil, I’m sure of it. I owe Macy’s 50 dollar minimum payment due to the fact that I hadn’t paid for three months. Oh well.

So I was working on the site a bit yesterday at work, I got a whole section coming soon, but it won’t have a lot at the moment, just one or two subsections. More information is to be coming very soon. If you were a fan of my old pages, then you might already know what I’m planning. Hopefully it will be up soon. I hope by maybe Sunday or Monday, but with my X-Box and my other games, who knows when it will be up. HAHA!

Old and New

So it’s been a few days since I wrote. I have been looking at my previous sites trying to figure out what I should do next to this one. Since I closed my other sites, I have been wanting to bring the content of them to lepslair, in a new updated way. I think you will be seeing them soon, along with some new sections. I’m not going to tell you what you will be seeing exactly, but know that when it is up, you will notice.

So I am at work right now, there’s a lot of people, but not many needing much help. I got one comment for my last post, I didn’t even think I had one visitor. LOL. If you’re here and you want to comment, then look at the bottom where it says leprakhauns running around, click that then his post reply. Thanks guys.

It’s Blog It’s Blog, Better than Bad, It’s Good

So my blog has finally arrived. After months of promising to figure it out and months of studying and trying different thing, it is finally here. Although it isn’t that spectacular, it is something I’ve wanted for a while. I guess you could call me jealous, ever since I saw Meg’s blog (http://digitalreflex), I have thought about putting this one on a site. The only problem I’ve had with it was how to do it in a way to make it easy, and yet still make it mine. I have checked out other sites like Lissy’s (http://silvercpu) and Renee’s (http://sacred.nu), both of which use WordPress, but I didn’t really want that either.

I was a guy who wanted something for years, and still hadn’t found a way to put it on my site. Of course Meg does it the hard way and does everything by hand and then uploads it, but I wanted something a bit easier. Steve (http://ihavenoshame) was in my C++ class and he told me about PHP and how simple it was. I tried a few things with it, but again I didn’t know the syntax or how to manipulate databases enough to really do it properly. People kept asking me why I didn’t just get a Live Journal or blog on my myspace account, my answer was that it just wasn’t the same.

So one day my friend Mike introduced me to some really great music from Comradef and Lucy Doll (http://comradef). The music was great and so was the site. So I asked him how he was able to manipulate his forum to include a blog and he explained to me it was a hack called php fetch all. He helped me a bit when I had questions, and everything is now up and running.

So that’s the story of the blog and why it took a few years and a few different sites to actually implement it. If you miss one, don’t worry they’ll all be kept in the forum, they aren’t going anywhere.
