A lot of changes took place in Peter's life after high school, he moved out of his Aunt's house and into an apartment in the city with his best friend, Harry. He also designed a costume more fitting for a super hero. Unwittingly he watched Harry date Mary Jane, and was clueless to say anything about it. Meanwhile Norman was experimenting with his company's drugs to form superhuman soldiers. When Norman tested the chemicals on himself, he immediately went became the Green Goblin.

     Soon after starting college, Peter took a job at the Daily Bugle, as a photographer hired to take pictures of Spiderman. When he was at the World Unity Festival, the Green Goblin attacked, and soon Peter changed clothes and sprung into action to save the innocent civilians. This was the first battle between the two, so Spiderman was caught unaware of what the Green Goblin was capable of, but Spidey came through, and the Green Goblin was forced away. Spiderman also saved Mary Jane right before her untimely demise.When Peter heard that Mary Jane had an audition for a soap opera, he went to see how it went. After they talked, Peter saw a couple of thugs going after her, so he changed into Spiderman to teach them a lesson. Mary Jane thanked him this time by giving him something that he has wanted since the first time he saw her- a kiss.

     When people are in trouble, Spiderman is there, even on holidays. When a Thanksgiving fire had a baby was trapped inside burning building, Spiderman gallantly swung in and saved the baby. When cries from inside left him believing there was someone else trapped, he rushed back in there, only to find the Green Goblin in disguise. Spiderman thought he had seen all of the Goblin's tricks the first time, but he was wrong. With new weapons and moves the Goblin managed to take a few slices out of Peter. When Norman sees the cuts that he had left on him earlier that day, he soon realizes that Peter Parker is Spiderman. With this new found knowledge, he starts to go after the people Peter care about, Aunt May and Mary Jane.

     After he put Aunt May into the hospital, Green Goblin went after Mary Jane. He gave Spiderman a choice, save the woman he loves, or save a bunch of children. With a little help from a bunch of New Yorkers, Spiderman was able to save both. They battle it out, and just when it looks like it is lights out for Spiderman, the Goblin talks about how he plans to kill Mary Jane. Spiderman, not wanting to see Mary Jane hurt, uses every last bit of strength in his body to take down the goblin, but in the end he couldn't save Norman.

     At Norman's funeral, Mary Jane tells Peter that the man who's always there for her, is him, and that when she was about to die, she thought about how she would never see Peter Parker ever again. Peter, tells her that his friendship is all he can give her.
